A large Washington-based medical association announced Tuesday they had reached a settlement with the Trump administration requiring the restoration of dozens of public health web pages and datasets tied to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and gender identity.

The settlement requires the Trump administration to restore the deleted health web pages, though officials have not said when they will go back online. Once reposted, the guidance will again be available to doctors and patients as the president continues his push to terminate federal DEI programs.

As of Tuesday, the medical association said the defendants "have agreed to restore webpages and data that were wrongfully deleted, ensuring that these critical resources are once again available to physicians, scientists, medical professionals, and the American public."

Well, I guess this is a fight that will have to be taken up again later when Trump is not distracted by other constant lawfare that has to wind its way through partisan lower Courts before arriving at SCOTUS where it can be shot down.

IMO such DEI programs are antithetical to a free society. The ideals of the USA should be equality of opportunity, not equity of results; unity of idealism not diversity simply for difference's sake; acceptance, not forced inclusion.

As for "genderism" (or more likely "transgenderism"?) I consider that a mental health issue rightly dealt with via therapy/counseling, not surgery.

We never will repair some of it, and there's reason to think it's going to get worse, not repaired. Who is the next president if trump fled to Russia tomorrow? Are the billionaires who install minions going anywhere?

Which very obviously has not been the case at any point. There has not even been equality before the law*, let alone equality of opportunity: Even after the point of arrest black people are charged and convicted at higher rates, sentenced more harshly and denied parole more commonly. While sometimes misguided, DEI initiatives generally seem to be about striving for equality of opportunity; about both A) recognizing and aiming to offset specific or systematic disadvantages which can limit some folks' opportunity, and B) recognizing that 'merit' is a very broad and somewhat subjective concept which cannot rationally be quantified on just one or two scales and attempts to do so invariably fall prey to the dominant/scale-setters' biases.
