A North Dakota construction firm that has received backing from President Trump has now secured the largest border wall contract ever awarded, a $1.3 billion deal to build 42 miles of black-painted fencing through the rugged mountains of southern Arizona.

The company that won the contract, Fisher Sand and Gravel, has been repeatedly lauded by the president in White House meetings with border officials and military commanders, the result of a long and personalized marketing pitch to Trump and ardent supporters of his barrier project.

After its initial bids for border contracts were passed over, the company and its CEO, Tommy Fisher, cut a direct path to the president by praising him on cable news, donating to his Republican allies and cultivating ties to former Trump adviser Stephen K. Bannon, GOP Senate candidate Kris Kobach and other conservative figures in Trump’s orbit.

The Trump admin is full of such cases as this one. He's awarded $100's of millions in a corona vaccine contract to a start-up company with zero experience in such that has promoted themselves as an American product/ingredient-only company. That business model is mentioned by the vaccine science community as being the least likely to produce a positive, quality result. Jared Kushner, the czar of PPE distribution, himself shows favoritism. The fox and weasels are in charge of the hen house and egg distribution.

President Trump awards NOTHING!!! Not a ****ing thing. Do you understand how govt acquisition works? You are not question Trump's integrity, but all the contracting officers, contract specialists and engineers involved in the selection process.

It’s all coincidental............

Do you understand how politics and Trump loyalty system works? Trump doesn't need to personally award anything. His loyalist will do as they know he wants or be disappeared. Why do you think he has a shadow govt headed by Kushner doing Trump's bidding? If you don't think Trump has any influence on these choices, you're not thinking straight.

Trump should be vilified for preferring one construction firm over another.
Imagine if that happened in the real world where the one paying for the work actually voiced a preference for one contractor over another. There would be riots. Especially if the one choosing the contractor did not know the first thing about building different structures.

And imagine if the company seeking the business continued to ask for the business and demonstrate how they can do the work on the southern border. Isn't that illegal for a construction firm to ask for the business and show what kind of work they can do?

Hey blue,
What's going to happen if the Kushner and Trump choices for manufacturing or building companies actually turn out to get the job done at the best possible price? Will anyone care? Or will the Democrats urge Pelosi to start another investigation because they didn't like the way Trump got the job done?

It's probably a DHS contract, awarded many layers below Trump.

They better be careful. If they screw up one little thing, he will stiff them like he has contractors through his entire life. I wouldn't want a contract that Trump has anything to do with.

Take a deep breath.

Border wall construction firm favored by Trump gets $1.3 billion contract to build 42 miles - CBS News

A North Dakota construction firm has secured a nearly $1.3 billion contract to build 42 miles of President Trump's wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. It's the largest border wall contract ever awarded, giving the company more than $30 million per mile.

Fisher Sand & Gravel Company was awarded the $1.275 billion contract on May 6, an Army Corps of Engineers spokesperson told CBS News' David Martin. The company had been directly lobbying to Mr. Trump for wall contracts, and the president reportedly pushed for it to get a deal.

The Arizona Daily Star first reported on the contract, which was not announced by the Defense Department or Customs and Border Protection.

The Wall is being built despite the Democratic party doing everything to stop the construction!
Remember the democrats want open borders and free healthcare for illegal aliens paid for
by the US taxpayers!

US company offers to build border wall for a fraction of the cost

Is getting "the job done at the best possible price" happening yet? Doing "no job" of regulation like with the EPA is less costly in terms of those govt dept operations, but nothing Trump has done in terms of continuing same ops under different policy/admin, like with prisons and migrant detention under private mgmnt, has seen any improvement in performance or cost that can be shown. Or, maybe you can show that it has.

And at key points of contract award are people hired to do what is politically bid. When Trump openly favors national companies who do not source anything from outside the US, what do you think than means to those who award contracts? Even people many layers down can take a hint.

1,300,000,000 for 42 miles?!

That's just shy of $31,000,000 a mile.
