Why does it seem reasonable that someone could come in off the street and start making improvements to how someone else does things?

Here at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, which does 3rd shop helicopter repairs, some required specialty repair positions have no certified mechanics, as some employees took the early retirement. These positions can't be filled due to the current hiring freeze. This is the kind of shit that can get Soldiers killed.

The last president to have a budget surplus was a Democrat: Bill Clinton in 2000-2001. Since then, technically, the years with the lowest budget deficits were during Bush's first term, but that was during Bush's first term, but that was before the Great Recession.

Since then, the years in which the deficits, although bad, were nevertheless lowest were: FY2009, FY2010, FY2021, FY2022, FY2023, FY2024. Who was president then?

The private sector has a strong incentive to cut waste, whereas in the public sector, it's the opposite.

They haven't done it by themselves, but they've played a major role in turning politics into the US vs them blood sport it is today. It's really ironic when one of their talking heads complains about the political divide in this country today. I'm thinking, you helped make it happen, mother****er.
