Those detained are entitled to make their case before an Immigration judge. If it's rejected, they can appeal. If that appeal fails, another appeal is allowed via the local Court of Appeals.

My son's aide has to be there for his mother full-time now to take her to her doctor's appointments and the like because he's the one who doesn't have an accent. And if his mother flips out again, which she will because she has dementia, and the father has to call for an ambulance and they arrive and hear the accent, it could just as easily happen again. Meanwhile, oh well, they still have a mortgage to pay. God knows how.
