Democrats say that President Trump’s assault on the U.S. Postal Service has handed them a new political message in the 2020 election, with a chance to make inroads with constituencies who have long favored Republicans.

High-profile Democrats from former president Barack Obama to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) sounded the alarm Friday about the president’s moves to denigrate government-run mail services, decrying it as an assault on democracy and the needs of citizens who rely on its daily deliveries.

Those most affected by reports of slowdowns in delivery services include veterans, senior citizens and rural residents who have long voted Republican, arming Democratic challengers and incumbents with a salient campaign issue. Democrats are already blanketing the airwaves, latching on to the opportunity to highlight support for an institution that has a 91 percent approval rating, according to an April survey by the Pew Research Center.

Trump is not the 'stable genius' he claims he is.

I very much agree. It's a strong message for the Dems.

When you openly try to cheat and preemptively whine that any result against you is "not fair" and rigged", the voters start seeing you as a loser, and nobody wants to vote for a loser that isn't already onboard.

Trump gives himself a greater image of being a loser everyday, which is not a good look for any campaign.

Slowing down the mail also affects Americans Abroad and the military.

Yeah, but that's to us. To his, he's a crusader to maintain the integrity of the election from Dem 'cheat by mail'!

Never heard any criticism of the Post Office before? Nor the expression "Going Postal"?

Sure, to that 40% he could drop a deuce out in the Rose garden and they'd go "what a guy! He's so unconventional!".

Everybody else hates it.

You would believe he dropped a deuce, even if he didn't, just because someone told you he did.

Just like you're mad about the mailbox thing, that was going on before Trump was even elected.

But, nevermind the facts, "Orange Man bad!!" :lamo

The point being, they vote and they already won one election.

Did you see tonight's CNN poll?

DP
CNN's poll has shown Biden's lead at absurd level of 15+, then to 5+, then back to 12+, and now 4+, all within four months.

It's garbage.

No way is Biden going to get one of these double digit results on election day. Republican voters will vote their partisanship in the end, that's just reality. But, it's also unlikely Biden isn't at least 2-3% further away in the popular vote than Clinton. She won it by 2% with indies and so many other metrics against her. Biden has a much more favorable metrics in indies, women, minority, and college educated whites. The electorate is not going to be the same as 2016, that's what people that are worried about some absurd 5% margin between the PV and EC don't seem to understand in these discussions.

All you have to understand that is to look at how Whtimer was only 70K Trump 2016 vote total in the midterm Michigan race for governor, and won by 9% in the state.
