In america it is said no person is above the law.

Is this a true statement? If trump is somehow granted a 'future' pardon isn't that the same as putting him above the law?

Not sure if I understand the premise. What do you mean by "future" pardon? He can only be pardoned for acts he has committed.

Trick question, but the basic answer is false. For example, trump pardons Roger Stone - making Roger Stone above the law. But the pardon IS the law, sort of. Of course, money buys good lawyers who get around the law, etc. also. So it's a bit more complicated, but mostly false. Yet there is some truth to it, e.g., Nixon was driven from office.

Oddly enough, I agree with Craig234's post above, but not for the same reasons.

Hillary's email server scandal had already demonstrated that there are some above the law.

Have their not been multiple well reported cases where politician's family have gotten off far more lightly than any other mere mortal?

Trunk can pardon a bunch of crooks so that puts them above the law.

Yeah, it's an ideal - not a reality.
No person should be above the law.

See my signature below. It still applies today, 2500-2600 hundred years later. Yes there a those who are effectively above the law and there are those who are too big to fail in modern-day America. Often they are the same folks as those who write the laws or decrees and those who interpret them.

Cheers(?) and be well.
