What is Transgender Day of Remembrance?​

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence since Rita Hester’s death, and began an important tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance."

Today is a day when trans folx remember those that have passed away or have been victims of anti-trans violence. In a year where many people do not feel safe, trans people continue to face all kinds of violence just simply for existing. So today I ask that you please spend a moment in silence to remember those that have passed away. No more than that if you don't mind, regardless of your politics please show respect to those that are victims of anti-trans violence.

I blame Clinton for signing police reform in the 1990's for that, but you're not wrong. Either way for this thread I don't want to talk about politics. Leave it at the door. I just want to let people know it's today and we remember those who have passed away.

Those of us DEMs willing to tackle the Trans- DS crowd before the
election were attacked by certain DEM tents and types who are weather vanes.

Those of you DEMs younger than my 70 better damn well get your shit together.
Border DS, Trans-DS, Woke DS, all the economic lies by big businesses in ads; etc, etc

I hadn't seen anything on it yet since I got on so I figured I should post something about it. It's not a happy holiday, but just a moment for reflection to remember those who have lost their lives to trans violence.
