Whenever you hear a liberal talking about cultural diversity and sensitivity it normally means something insensitive is about to happen to Christians.
The latest case in point: Bloomington, Indiana - the home of Indiana University and a nesting place for a gaggle of intolerant liberals.
Mayor John Hamilton recently announced that are renaming two paid holidays for city workers -- in an effort to respect "differing cultures."
Columbus Day will henceforth be known as "Fall Holiday" and Good Friday will be known as "Spring Holiday."
Town Renames "Good Friday" for the sake of "Cultural Sensitivity" — Todd Starnes
I'm sorry you've been triggered by people who aren't respecting your religion. Would you like for us to make you a safespace so you don't have to hear people say "fall holiday" and "spring holiday"?

Well, when in Rome . . . .
Supporting the removing of a Christian holiday then. You must be anti-Christian.
Who says there isn't a war on Christians? Just have to look at the Religio-cide occurring in the Middle East.
Perhaps you'd be more comfortable there?
Supporting removing holiday in existence since 1792, and a federal holiday since 1937.
So you'd support removing two federal holidays that have been around for a long, long time (so ones with historical precedence), at the same time claim that you aren't sacrificing the society that you claim you belong to?
Sacrificing long held traditions on the alter of excessive PC idiocy? You are free to do so, just do it somewhere else, some other nation, and not around here.
In the days of old before there were good instruments and good data, it doesn't matter where he though he was. What matters is that he had the courage to go beyond the existing map and push forward the boundaries of human knowledge at the time.
I'm sorry you've been triggered by people who aren't respecting your religion. Would you like for us to make you a safespace so you don't have to hear people say "fall holiday" and "spring holiday"?

Do you realize that "holiday" is OUR word. Think holy-day....holiday. Stop using our word without permission.
Do you realize that "holiday" is OUR word. Think holy-day....holiday. Stop using our word without permission.
...but you do understand the problem with calling the days Fall Holiday and Spring Holiday?I don't understand what the problem is with keeping their names as Good Friday and Columbus Day.
I think the point here is the "gaggle of intolerant conservatives" are throwing a temper tantrum about something which doesn't matter, likely because they feel like they are no longer getting special treatment.Or is it just that a "gaggle of intolerant liberals" feels the need to pointlessly boss all the rest of us about?
Societies are always redefining themselves. Does it come as a shock to you?Volunteering to redefine / define away their own society and culture, I guess they're not that interested in it, but there are other that are.
:lol:Who says there isn't a war on Christians?
Removing? What, if the government doesn't celebrate a holiday, you just stop celebrating it? Is your faith in the government or in God? Wait, but it's not even that. It's not that the government is even removing Good Friday. It's that the government is celebrating all cultures on Good Friday. Inclusion of others is removal of you, I guess.
Pathetic, even for you. You're supporting celebration of a genocidal maniac, therefore maybe you are more comfortable somewhere else.
Again with this "removing" idea. I always love this. To Christians, you must exclusively celebrate Christianity otherwise you're attacking Christianity. To people who have been oppressing other cultures for so long, I imagine including other cultures must feel like an attack.
Sacrificing tradition! Yes, because again, your religious belief just vanishes if the government doesn't tell you to be Christian, I guess.
And kill a bunch of people when he got there, yes. He was a **** navigator, and a murderer. Doing something brave based on a stupid idea is still stupid.
You're demanding that the government celebrate murder. This is your standard, not mine.
Leif Erikson did that long before Columbus.

Really?

Renaming a day to Fall Holiday or Spring Holiday is a war on Christianity? Really?
You know who says there isn't a war on Christians in America? Sane people, that's who.
Leif Erikson did that long before Columbus.
"Our" word? Did America invent the "holiday"?

What is it with leftists that presumes that a new name will make it all better?
Here's a thought. If you don't like Good Friday or Columbus day, just go to work and don't celebrate them.
AMEN! PREACH IT! Lol.
Your day is bad. But I still want to celebrate it by not going to work.

Yes, it is losing being treated as special. Losing special status and be treated equally should not be an invitation to whine however.Taking a religious day of observance which has been the tradition for a long time, and discarding it isn't losing something?
But when people refer to a "war on Christianity", many are talking about in America.Never made that claim.
So in a thread talking about how a town renamed two holidays, you thought it was relevant to point out something that was happening on the other side of the world, in a completely different country under completely different circumstances?I pointed out the regicide occurring in the Middle East by murdering maniacs.

This is what so many Christians don't understand. They don't understand why so many people roll their eyes at their complaints. Our entire society is set up around Christianity. When things like this happen, and remove a little bit of the special privilege Christians have enjoyed for so long, people like me don't want to hear whining, as it just shows a lack of perspective. I'm a Catholic and have no problem with any sect of Christianity, but things like this just make an objective person's eyes roll.

You don't see a problem with that?
Who cares? Is it your position government should play favorites with religion? So what religious group has the largest segment of the electorate as adherents?
What contortions? It's a renaming of a day. I feel as if the response from people like you are FAR more making a mountain out of a mole hill.So why go through all these contortions for the merest whisps of minorities?
Inclusiveness =/= guilt. And for little more than appeasing some misbegotten self-inflicted guilt from liberal / progressives?
As opposed to you, whose real intent is to boss everyone around with your particular flavor of religion? That's somehow better?(Who's real intent is just to boss everyone else around with their excessive PC bull****)
:screwy

Muslim?
Buddhism?
Shintoism?
Atheism?
Nope.
Christianity.
