He passed away in Las Vegas last night after being ill for several years. Despite at times a rather decadent younger life and admitted hypocricy at times he was in the Big scheme of things a Good Man and a self made Good Actor. He never took himself all that serious or went the pseudo intellectual Political route as numerous others did. He was a WWII Navy Veteran & was in Tokyo Bay on 9/2/45 looking at the USS Missouri's activities from about a mile off.

His 1956 portrayal of Sidney Falco in " Sweet Smell of Success" is generally considered to be his best and pivotal career role. I concur in that view.
