With cold cases there's often no clear way for the police to determine whether the victim was killed by a serial killer or an unprovoked murderer. Let's say if a group of four people were actually killed by separate gunmen rather than a single serial killer, then the number of extra armed threats to society has now quadrupled. Who knows whether people missing for decades were kidnapped or else shot and buried. Therefore gun homicides are under-reported.

Just turned on the radio news here in Los Angeles.

Three deadly shooting reports in a roll:

1. Two young gentlemen broke into a house. The owner took out his gun and quickly dispatched one of the young gentlemen to H*ll.

2. Some people decided it would nice to visit a bar. One of them never left alive after someone decided it would be fun to shoot him.

3. A nice couple were out for a stroll. Someone passing by decided it would be fun to shoot at them. One died.

Reasonable gun laws might have a mild impact on the disgusting gun violence in this country.

But this is basically a hopeless problem, for a nation is only as good as the character of its people.

So, boy, are we in trouble!
