I am sick of what this neocon agenda has done to this country.
Impeaching George W. Bush
Interview with Michael Ratner
by Onnesha Roychoudhuri
Until recently, talk of ousting President George W. Bush has proved little more than a distant rumbling. For too long, impeachment has been deemed implausible. It’s not going to happen with a Republican Congress, so the argument goes. Not with the president finishing his second term, not while we're at war.
But the distant rumbling is growing louder by the day, creating a resonant echo that is rapidly taking root in public discourse. “Impeach Him,” reads the cover of this month’s Harper’s magazine. And in a public forum in New York City last week, journalists, lawyers, and political figures came together to discuss the case against our president.
Since September 11th, 2001, there has been no shortage of news regarding this administration’s involvement in torture, lies, secrecy and obstruction of the law. Yet, there has been little discussion in the mainstream media of holding those in power accountable for the actions so diligently catalogued by the press. It is a conspicuous vacuum that helps to explain why calls for impeachment are rapidly gaining currency.
In fact, the case for the impeachment of President Bush is arguably the strongest in American history. The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) makes this amply clear in its recent book, a concise indictment of President Bush that lays out four clear legal arguments that point to impeachment as a necessary remedy for the gross violation of our Constitution. The Articles of Impeachment Against George W. Bush covers illegal wiretapping, torture, rendition, detention and the Iraq war. An appendix compares the impeachment proceedings of Andrew Johnson, Nixon and Clinton to the comparatively more powerful case against Bush.
Democratic members of Congress, do what you were hired to doCivil rights groups file war crimes complaint in Germany against top US officialsRole of Rumsfeld et al in international program of torture & illegal detention
by Joe Kay
On November 14, lawyers submitted to a German prosecutor a complaint of war crimes against outgoing US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, former White House Counsel and current Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, former CIA director George Tenet and 11 other current and former Bush administration officials and military officers. The charges relate primarily to the role of these figures in devising and implementing an international program of torture and illegal detention.
The complaint was prepared by the US-based Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) along with several other civil rights organizations on behalf of 12 victims of US policy, including 11 Iraqis who had been detained and allegedly tortured at Abu Ghraib and one Saudi prisoner currently held at Guantánamo Bay. The complaint was submitted by Berlin attorney Wolfgang Kaleck.
The majority of Americans have made it clear they resent the carnege at home and abroad being done in our name. We want this country to return to greatness as the leader of the free world. We cannot achieve this goal as long as exceptions and excuses are made for the conduct of this criminal Administration. No other President in history has deserved to be impeached more than George W. Bush. The American people demand accountability.
The Democrats were voted into office this past election to bring accountability to this government and restore our good name. As Bob Dylan once said, "if your not going to be part of the solution, then your part of the problem". If you do not commence with impeachment hearings when Congress re-convenes, you will all be voted out of office in the next election. If you think I'm overexaggerating, then you do not realize the dissatisfaction the American people have with the direction this country is going.
I am sick of what this neocon agenda has done to this country.
Democratic members of Congress, do what you were hired to do.........fire him! Then put him in jail!
It will doom 'em if they don't.Orignally posted by Turtledude:

The Dems are doomed if they do, and doomed if they don't!
It will doom 'em if they don't.
Dare I say it.
I can't resist.
If they don't start hearings on the legality of this war, in the next election, you and I will be on the same side.Orignally posted by Turtledude:

I also would like to see VP Chenny in action but I just have nothing but total admiration for Prez Bush with exception of his stance on illegal Mexicans.
Yeah, that's something to be proud of.U.S. flag is symbol of 'immorality' and 'mounting terrorism’ in Iraq
Almost all over the world the U.S. flag indicates the values of a civilized society which has transformed the face of the globe in the past seventy years. But unfortunately that is not the case in Iraq where totally different connotations are associated with the U.S. flag.
In Iraq the U.S. flag is seen as symbol of decadence of morality. It has got nothing to do with technology, democracy, welfare and human rights.
It is indeed incredible to see the United States getting rid of all the values it fiercely fought and struggled for in its occupation of Iraq. Prior to the invasion, many Iraqis had hopes of having at least a slight share of the sublime values which Washington trumpeted.
But alas the world’s most powerful country does not seem to have a capacity to learn from its mistakes whether in Iraq or the larger Middle East.
The United States loves creating its own enemies by its own hands and as a result both its Iraq and Middle East policies are heading towards the unknown.
The U.S. has turned Iraq into a venue for “international terror” and a meeting point for the covetous intentions of neighboring states.
The U.S. has turned Iraq into an example that now runs contrary to all the values, beliefs and assumptions it had in mind for it.
How come there is not one single wise man in the world’s mightiest country to tell its leaders that they have turned their nation into a hostage of their own polices.
How come there is not one single adviser to tell the White House that U.S. enemies whether in Iraq and the Middle [East] are the product of its policies.
The world’s only superpower gathers its own enemies, nourishes them, solidifies them and buttresses their platforms by its own hands.
As a result U.S. policies in the region are heading for the abyss.
And for this reason the U.S. flag and the U.S. tank are both powerless to contain the murderous militias in Iraq.
The U.S. flag is associated in Iraqi minds with the surgical strikes in crowded cities such as Falluja, Tal Affar, Ramadi, Qaim and Baaquba.
The U.S. flag is associated with humiliating practices like ordering university female students in Mosul to take off their clothes inside the campus.
The U.S. flag is linked to the sexual scandals committed at Abu Ghraib prison which has now become more notorious than the days of the former President Saddam Hussein.
The U.S. flag is related to those marines who raped and then murdered the Iraqi virgin in the city of Mahmodiya.
These are a few examples of the things that prop up in Iraqi minds once spotting the U.S. flag.
No wonder, there is no trace of this flag anywhere in Iraq apart from the Green Zone ringed by huge slabs of reinforced concrete.

Sorry, billo. Pelosi and Reid have already come out and said they will not investigate or bring imeachment proceedings. Why? Because there is nothing to to impeach him for. There isn't an offense called Impeach Bush Because Billo Hates Him. Even thought the Dems ran on it, it's not going to happen. How does it feel to have been lied to?
Sure he will. He'll be the leader he always wished he was......Spencer Collins said:Surely you jest,he will go down in history alright but he will not even make the top ten list.
Oh my, who would want a President Cheney on their conscience!(and a President Cheney could probably make things worse)
It always happens when the voters forget and let the mental midgets in office, the dems have to come behind them and clean up their mess. Look at them now, even ol' dad (as he has, so many times in the past) has had to call in Jr's. babysitters (Baker, et al) for advise on what to do with the mess they've made.:joke:Hoot said:As much as I would love to see Bush impeached, maybe the Dems should simply concentrate on cleaning up the mess left behind? Maybe the Dems should show the world that they are better than the neo-cons, and work to correct the mistakes and mismanagement of the Bush administration, rather than seek political revenge, as the republicans did against Clinton in their lust for power at any cost to our nation?

Mon Nov 20, 2006 9:23 AM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House dismissed a classified CIA draft assessment that found no conclusive evidence of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons program, the New Yorker reported.
"The CIA found no conclusive evidence, as yet, of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons program running parallel to the civilian operations that Iran has declared to the International Atomic Energy Agency," according to the article.
"A current senior intelligence official confirmed the existence of the CIA analysis, and told me that the White House had been hostile to it," it said.
The article, in the current issue of the magazine, discussed how Vice President Dick Cheney believed the Bush administration would deal with Iran if the Republicans lost control of Congress as they did in the November 7 election.
"If the Democrats won on November 7th, the vice president said, that victory would not stop the administration from pursuing a military option with Iran," Hersh wrote, citing an unidentified source familiar with the discussion.
This is the most important one.[*]Lying to the nation during his inauguration when he stated he would defend the Constitution
Ah yes... Words to the wise... Agreed.I think we all saw the effects of pointless impeachment when the republicans did it to Clinton. He was weakened severely by it, and I dont think this country can afford to do such a thing at this time.
A) He didn't start the war before he got Congressional authorization, the air strikes were retaliatory for Saddam firing on our planes in the no-fly zone.
- Starting a war before receiving authorization from Congress
- Lying to the nation during his inauguration when he stated he would defend the Constitution
- Launching an un-provoked attack on a sovereign nation in violation of our Constitution
We have no choice but to impeach him. That is our only option out of the quagmire and abyss he has gotten this country into. All the nobility and respect this country earned after WWII has been destroyed by this Administration. We are on the verge of losing our heritage and saying goodbye to a representative government. We have to impeach him in order to survive as a nation and reduce the threat of terrorism on our shores.
Because of Bush neoconic foreign policy, we are uniting what was once enemies around a common cause..........the hatred for America. If we don't impeach Bush, as was stated above by another poster, we will be saying to the world that we approve of his illegal, armed, un-provoked aggression against sovereign states. The perception that Americans approve of this Nazi-esque foreign policy, is the main reason people are getting their heads chopped off! By impeaching Bush and Cheney, we would be saying to the world that we heard their cries for justice and have decided to clean our own house and in doing so, demonstrate why we are a great nation. This is what the Germans should have done when Hitler started enacting legislation consolidating his power. Bush is doing the same thing with the passage of the Military Commission's Act. In one detainee case recently, Aministration officials told an Appeals court they had no jurisdiction in the case. Can you believe the Executive branch telling the Judicial branch they have no jurisdiction? This is understandable in a dictatorship, but shocking in the US of A.
Impeaching Bush would set us apart from the Germans at Weimar and show the entire world that we are a nation that respects the rule of law. And in doing so, would be the first step to reduce the hatred that manifests in attacks on our shores.
What is going on in Iraq is genocide on an epic scale. And were about to repeat the process in Iran. Does this sound familiar...
...if we don't impeach him, all I can say, in the words of Ronald Reagan, "Here we go again!"
Report: Israeli spies active in Iran
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Iran has developed and tested a trigger device for a nuclear bomb, Israeli agents stationed there have told the White House, according to a report published in The New Yorker Monday morning.
35 nations meet on denying Iran technical help for building plutonium-producing reactor
According to the report, written by Seymour M. Hersh, the White House received the information but did not pass it on to the CIA.
The Israeli intelligence presented a stark contrast to recent CIA estimates on Iran's nuclear program, which claimed that Teheran was far from attaining a nuclear bomb.
The New Yorker article seemed to suggest that there was a difference of opinion between the CIA, the White House and the Pentagon regarding the progress of Iran's nuclear weapons program.
The CIA's opinion was based on technical information gathered from satellites and other hi-tech devices that suggested high levels of radiation had not been detected.
However, the White House and the Pentagon dispute the CIA's findings. Pentagon officials have urged that the Israeli intelligence be given due consideration and said data gathered by satellites and ground sensors was insufficient. They added that more emphasis should be given to information supplied by agents.

W is at least the worst since Ronnie McReagan.
Bush certainly deserves to be impeached...more so than any other president.
The republicans hounded Clinton during his last years in office, for a legal, consensual indiscretion.
