Yup! Trump is using that hatchet to end the opportunity for bureaucrats, at the federal Department of Education, from using taxpayer money as their slush fund to finance everything other than teaching the 3 Rs.

Not only has the federal Department of Education failed in the asserted noble goals alleged for its creation and has used money taken from American citizen paychecks to fund sexual deviant indoctrination of their children, but federal taxing and spending for today’s federal Department of Education is an outrageous violation of the defined and limited grants of power found beneath Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1 of our Constitution, for which Congress is authorized to lay and collect taxes.

Let us look at the facts.

Prior to the adoption of our existing Constitution, the People of Maryland delegated the power for a state funded and regulated educational system to their state elected officials, and not to a national governing power --- the wording being as follows:

“The General Assembly, at its First Session after the adoption of this Constitution, shall by Law establish throughout the State a thorough and efficient System of Free Public Schools; and shall provide by taxation, or otherwise, for their maintenance.”

The Maryland Constitutional also states, in emphatic terms:

“the People of this State have the sole and exclusive right of regulating the internal government and police thereof, as a free, sovereign and independent State.”

In fact, under Art. 3 of Maryland’s Constitution, the command is for local regulation and funding of education as opposed to a federally funded and regulated public school system!

The Maryland Constitution also states:

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution thereof, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people thereof.”

This very provision of Maryland’s Declaration of Rights is also agreed to by the People of the United States by their ratification of the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States!

Now, with respect to our federal Constitution and its delegated powers, upon researching the record of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, we find Delegate Charles Pickney, on August 18th, proposed a broad power "To establish seminaries for the promotion of literature and the arts and sciences", but this proposal was rejected by the Convention in favor of a limited grant of power expressed in Article 1, Section 8, Cl.8, of the proposed constitution. The limited power, later agreed upon by ratification of our Constitution authorizes Congress "[t]o promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts” . . . (and what is authorized to accomplish this?). . . by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries."

The fact is, the federal Department of Education and its current functions are in defiance of the defined and limited powers granted to Congress. And every time a member of Congress votes to tax and spend on this agency, they are committing a fraud upon the people of the United States and are usurping a power not granted!

Thank you, President Trump, for keeping your promise and working to close down the dastardly evil federal Department of Education which has turned into an institution of sexual deviant and radical political indoctrination of America’s children, rather than education.

Why have a written constitution approved by the people if those who it is meant to control and regulate are free to make it mean whatever they want it to mean?

You were taxed over $ 1 billion used by the Dept. of Education for DEI initiatives in schools

"The Department of Education’s expenditures on DEI programming have surpassed $1 billion, according to a recent audit by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The figures, disclosed in a social media post from DOGE, included $489.9 million for race-based hiring, $343.3 million for DEI programming, and $169.3 million for mental health initiatives tied to DEI."

The USSR? We're becoming socialist?

Do you have loved ones that use DOE programs for loans and grants for higher education? Or anticipates using DOE programs for loans and grants? Too bad because your vote just screwed it all up.
MAGAS and higher education is an oxymoron.

Yesterday, about half of the DOE
Offices focusing on the enforcement of civil rights were closed.

The regional offices in New York, Cleveland, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Dallas and Chicago were closed, with their entire staffs laid off, multiple sources at the department told CNN.

The expectation, employees said, is that the civil rights cases being handled by these offices will be redistributed to the regional offices that remain open in Seattle, Denver, Atlanta, Kansas City and Washington, DC.

Another current OCR employee told CNN they’re concerned about the office’s ability to manage its caseload with the massive reduction in staff.

“There was already a case backlog, and now these cases will simply fall to the wayside,” the employee told CNN. “This work cannot be done without staff. The messaging that this will increase efficiency and that OCR will continue to be able to fulfill its statutorily-mandated mission is a lie – students will suffer harm from this that, for many, will have repercussions for the rest of their lives.”

“To better serve American students and families, changes are being made as to how OCR will conduct its operations,” Madi Biedermann, the department’s deputy assistant secretary for communications, told CNN. “OCR’s staff is composed of top-performing personnel with years of experience enforcing federal civil rights laws. We are confident that the dedicated staff of OCR will deliver on its statutory responsibilities
The political appointees at OCR seem more concerned with politically-motivated directed investigations that rile up their base and that they can investigate through headlines rather than with complaints filed by everyday folks – regular taxpayers – who believe their civil rights have been violated and need help,” a current OCR employee told CNN
With a skeleton crew staff and direction to act on one category of cases, the others are necessarily de-prioritized,” a current employee said, noting that cases involving race and disability, for example, would be deprioritized

Who cares about those disabled kids, right?

We shouldn’t be wasting money educating them in the first place. Should go back to how education was PRIOR to the Dept of Education and civil rights laws that gave them a right to an education anyway

MAGA ‘Merica.

Who cares about those disabled kids, right?

Who supports school choice and vouchers, which the wealthy democrat leadership does not need and whose children are placed in top-of-the-shelf schools?

What does choice, vouchers or “top-of-the-shelf” have to do with MAGAs DOGE and Trump closing OCR offices that mean disabled kids cases won’t be reviewed?

Please pay attention.

“Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. Closing down the “federal” Department of Education breaks up the concentrated federal power and control over an object rightfully reserved by the various states under the Tenth Amendment.

The various states and people therein are fully competent to handle the needy.

FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT isn’t done by states.

I’m sorry you don’t grasp that.

Wrong

The Us Dept of Education was created in 1979.

Federal funding for K-12 education grew by steps over decades:

Federal support for schools in communities swelled by military bases, factories, and shipyards during WW2
Title 1 funding (1965) for programs to assist low income students
Funding associated with the American Disabilities Act (1975)

The Dept of Education was created to put all of these programs under one roof, to make government more efficient (somebody tell Elon)

The Dept has long been viewed as the agency that thwarted desegregation during the Reagan years. He called for it's abolition along with the Dept of Energy in 1982.

The religious right grew from efforts to provide white only "Christian Academies" for racist families fleeing the public schools, after Brown v Board of Education (1954).

The fundies got political in an attempt to obtain tax exempt status from the Nixon administration. When that failed, they began working overtime to defeat moderate Republicans in Congress and state governments.

Today, they are probably more panicked by bilingual of immigrants, than by mixed race classrooms.

Their goal is to return to Nixon era block grants, money given to states with no civil rights strings attached.

Must read article from Politico (2014)

The top Republican is in bed with an old USSR commie guy.

It's almost funny.
Putin isn't a commie though. Russia has a mixed economy like we do, its just controlled by very corrupt people under the power of Putin's dictatorship. The road sign would have make much more sense if it said Russia and not the USSR.
