However, there is a catch. Although next year's slate of Republican candidates is nothing to get excited about, except Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, who won't win, there is nothing exciting about the slate of Democrats either.

You think by now that Americans would be demanding better from both parties, but IMHO, they cannot unglue themselves from their favorite TV show long enough to go out and vote. Don't like the candidates running for the presidency? Then show your displeasure and get actively involved. Otherwise we all deserve the crap we end up with, and I do mean crap. Really crappy crap. The crappiest crap we ever ended up with, who will take another giant crap on America, while we stand by, not giving a crap. Down the crapper we go. So much for my use of the word "crap". Gotta stop crapping here before people begin crapping all over my thread, but that's OK. I am all crapped out anyways. Wait - I have one last crap to give for my country. Here it goes..........

Politicians are all CRAP!!!!

Note: The guy in the picture above was not crap. Just about all politicans running today ARE crap. Real crap. I am sick of this crap, so with this thread, I am taking a giant crap on all of them. They won't give a crap either, because they put their crap ahead of America, cynically thinking we will go for their crap. But I am on to them and their crappy views, crappy politics, crappy fake beliefs, crappy photo ops, crappy campaigns, crappy attacks on others, who fire the same crap back at them, which we see on crappy news channels, read about in crappy editorials, and we ourselves are crappy enough to believe the crap they are shoveling at us, so we start crappy 527's, invite them to crappy rallies, adore the crap out whichever crappy politician we are supporting, refuse to listen to crap from other politicians about them, but are quick to spew the crappy propaganda that our side crapped into our hearts and minds. Politics is crap, crap, crap, crap.......

aiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Whew. Just got a real load of crap off my mind. I don't feel crappy now. Thanks for listening to my crappy rant.

Finally, I am all crapped out this time.... Really..... No crap.

You know who I want back? Nixon.

Ahhhh.....Nixon, the ultimate RINO republican. I respect the fact that he was our president, but think he just got too many things wrong(Like trade with China, the Vietnam pullout, Watergate.)

However, there is a catch. Although next year's slate of Republican candidates is nothing to get excited about, except Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, who won't win, there is nothing exciting about the slate of Democrats either.
I don't necessarily agree with Ron Paul on Iraq, but he is a solid conservative nonetheless, Gingrich is a solid constitutionalist(personal mistakes aside) and we need......as conservatives, someone of either calibre. I think conservatives could get behind either of these men D, to tell you the truth. But I agree on the current Dems, they scare the hell out of me as an American.

Yeah, most people are certainly taking the lazy way out and letting the leisure lifestyle overshadow critical thinking in the way we are governed, most people probably have no clue as to how far beyond bounds the government has overreached these last hundred years. Definitely no argument from me.

Oh now you're just talking crap!;)

Definitely Right! No crap! Hence why Reagan not only won two presidential terms, but set the standard that *should* have been followed towards a shrinkage of government reach and a furtherance of the concepts of liberty, freedom, and the uniquely American lifestyle.

Watergate was probably the only wrong thing he did - in that he didn't burn the tapes.

How is trade with China wrong? Were it not for Nixon, China would likly still be shut off from the rest of the world or still unfriendly with US as the great western evil. Think of that in combination with our war on terror - not a good combination.
Pulling out of Vietnam was another of the most sensible things that Nixon did. Thousands more would've died for a meaningless war.

Nixon used something extensively that Bush doesn't even know exists..... The veto.

Am I allowed to agree with jfuh?

I apologize for the lateness of this response, but have been stupid busy lately.

Watergate was a dumba!@ move, he turned a simple inquiry into obstruction of justice, definitely dumb.

The problem is exactly what we have been seeing since, an encroachment of cheap foreign goods that American companies cannot match because of regulations within the U.S., this is causing an increasing trade deficit on the global market and a loss of American manufacturing jobs, it is also propping up a communist government with an attrocious human rights record. Outside of that, it could be considered a brilliant move certainly, but with the potential for long term losses.

I disagree, yes, the war was started for the wrong reasons, and we had no business out there, but, pulling out caused a huge spread in South Asian communism, and the massacre of innocent people will forever be the trademark of that decision. We didn't finish what we started, and are still feeling some of the political and global ramifications of that over 30 years later.

That was not caused by Nixon. Also keep in mind that American companies are far more efficient, come with globalization actually creates more high paying, high tech jobs here.

What were those ramifications? Vietnam became communist and? Innocent ppl were massacred by us there as well. What kind of regime were the south Vietnamese? There was no way to finish what we didn't start.

Not started by Nixon, but a direct result of the China actions which I will admit were not immediately forseeable when relations were opened. While more tech jobs are a good thing, not everyone is technologically inclined and many workers who had a great life manufacturing products now must find "something". How many of these once great manufacturing cities have we seen become shells of what they were because the factories left?

What were those ramifications? Vietnam became communist and?
And communism is not a good thing, it's never been accepted without the use of extreme force, and has caused nothing but economic collapse and suffering.
Innocent ppl were massacred by us there as well.
There were some attrocities committed, such as Mai Lai, and there was some stuff the media misrepresented, but it was nothing compared to what the Viet Cong did after the fall of Saigon.
What kind of regime were the south Vietnamese?
I don't remember to be honest, but I believe they were a republic, I know the big thing was they didn't want communism, but now they have it.
There was no way to finish what we didn't start.
Actually, militarily, we were finishing it quite well, not one campaign lost, it was an internal collapse of the public's will(mainly because of a negative press reporting and misrepresentation of the situation) that led to withdrawal, not some sweeping viet cong campaigns on the battlefield. One thing to remember is that we had the VC on the run until withdrawal, but the pullback encouraged them to push back south, thus crushing the south vietnamese forces, and the result is a unified, communist Vietnam, and a black eye for the U.S. . I will meet you halfway here and say that in my opinion,, we should not have entered the war to begin with and should have let France take their lumps, but the results of bad policy led to political ramifications and a slighting of our troops that remain today and frankly, disgust me.
