Watching the immigration march around the nation today has inspired me. Wouldn't it be great if the 70% of the people of this Country who recognize that Bush is a complete and utter failure took to the street the way the undocumented and their supporters took to the streets today.
I'm not talking about an anti-war march but a march against Bush. It would send a powerful message that we are not willing to sit back and let our country and everything that it stands for be destroyed by Bush and his radical right wing supporters (they are about the only supporters that Bush has left).
Unfortunately, unlike the undocumented who are vocal and active, too many Americans won't get off their butts to march for something they believe in.
It would be an incredible scene and it would be a historic first for a "president" to face that type of message.

The flaw in your stance, and indeed the stance of many Bush haters is the assumption that just because 65% of people disapprove of him as a president, that it means that 65% of Americans hate him. In fact, that is preposterous.

Gueass what, I disapprove of several things Bush stands for and the way he has handled things, but I do not hate him. And, I would certainly not march against him. You can try to call me an apologist, but you'd be crazy. I NEVER voted for Bush, not once. Not because I hated him, but because I thought there were better choices (NOT KERRY!!!!!!).

Anyhow, I've seen this notion asserted several times on this board. Ever since the numbers came out, 'haters' have been reveling in the false assumption that 65% people hate bush. Just because people disapprove of the way he has handled things does not mean they hate them. Let's not forget, he won the presidency twice (don't give me any FL bullshit). 2004 was most assuredly undiputable. That means that a majority of the country voted conservatively. If you think that all of the sudden the US voters will start voting liberal because of disapproval of a current 'conservative' you're probably in for a big surprise.

I'm not saying that the next president might not be a democrat. But it won't be a landslide. In fact, there is a fair percantage of that group of pollsters that disapprove because they do not feel Bush is cinservative enough.

Aaaah while I have little doubt you could find 70% of people who have some problem with something Bush's administration has done I highly doubt the percentage of the population that would call him a "complete and utter failure" is 70%. :rofl

I think the idea that he has only radical right wing supporters left is a gross exaggeration.

Unfortunately, unlike the undocumented who are vocal and active, too many Americans won't get off their butts to march for something they believe in.

Depends on where you live. Where I live in Olympia and especially in Seattle it's quite easy to find people willing to protest. Doesn't even much matter what the topic is the young people around here, like those in France, love a good protest. It becomes like a party with street performers and the whole bit until nightfall at least when they start destroying property. :rofl

But I agree it's harder to get "adults" out in the street unless they really feel the 'cause is worth going out in the street. In this case most probably don't hate Bush as much as liberals would like to believe.

This is why his approval ratings are so low, he has become more liberal in hope that his apporval ratings will get better, what he seems to not get is that America voted for him because he was conservative. If he would just no give in to the liberals for once and become tha old Bush, he may see the magical 51% mark before the senate elections this year.

Oh....I get it....the people who are turned against Bush are actually conservatives, its not the moderates who have realized that Bush's policies are inept.

Thats a good one.

Bush becoming Liberal.:rofl
Thats a really good one.

C'mon give me some more.....these are great!

No, I don't think you read it correcly, or perhaps you read it selectively. Or, perhaps you saw an opportunity to take a jab without actually thinking it through.

No one said moderates weren't alsopotentially becoming disenchanted, but that he is loosing the confidence of the more and/or ultra conservatives because some of his policies and actions cut against the grain of conservative beliefs. Policies such as out of control government spending, larger (as opposed to) smaller government, wussy stance on illegal immigration, etc. He has also not played to his base in a while.

I'm sure you see this as a valid assertion. But you wanted to be first on the trigger. I do it sometimes too. As long as you recognize your mistake and move on. :doh

Yeah, cuz if most Americans are like me, they're fat, lazy, and just downright don't give a damn. Bush is in there until 2008, so deal with it. We all have to. Then we can vote in the next crook... I mean president. ;)

Let's do a nation-wide march against something IMPORTANT. Like Border Security, or Outrageous Taxes, or Gov't Pork Projects, or the Shitty Education System. Much more important than political biasness against the Commander in Chief.

Agreed, however I don;t feel I can walk well in the freezing temperatures of NH. I walk to work, 20 mins and my snot freezes into chopsticks.

Its true, i feel bad that my ancestors moved onto the Oneida's land. Luckily they'll be getting it back shortly so they can practice their hallowed traditions of 2 for 1 margaritas after 3 on Friday and nickel slot machines...

Hey, indians, like jews, are good businessmen. You can't hate them for that, unless you're a leftist, anti-capitalist.

Its not being good businessmen. It's being exempt from taxes.

In NYS, every single retailer has to pay a 49 cent tax per gallon of gas. Except for the Oneida Indian Nation.

So an Oneida Indian gas station can charge 25 cents per gallon less than local gas stations, make incredible profits, put the local stations out of business, and deprive the state and federal government of the millions of dollars a year they used to get from the old gas stations.

Now think about what else it does.

The Nation doesn't pay property taxes. Schools that have Oneida land in their district operate from seriously decreased tax bases. Many have NO extracurriculars at all, terrible facilities, and awful teachers.

The Nation doesn't pay usage taxes. Area police, fire, and ambulance corps find themselves overstretched without any money in the coffer.

As the Nation continues to expand and bring more and more land under its auspices, upstate NY is being destroyed.

To oppose the Nation isn't anti-capitalist, its the most capitalist one can be. Being exempt from taxes creates a drastic market failure. Free and fair markets for all.
