Something to consider:

Iraq conflict passes WWII

THEY were America's days of infamy, 60 years apart - Pearl Harbour and September 11. The first led the US into World War II, a conflict it endured for 1348 days; the second was followed by a war that from tomorrow will have lasted even longer.

America's involvement in Iraq will reach that milestone at a time when the clamour for withdrawal has never been louder, and the possibility of achieving it has never seemed so difficult. The decisive end of World War II in 1945 delivers no lessons that could be applied to a very different war in a very different era.

And both times, we fought enemies we shouldn't have fought with. Did Germany and North Africa have anything to do with Pearl Harbor? only as much as Iraq had to do with 9/11.

I agree with you about Iraq, but Germany and World War II is another matter.

Why? What Germany do to make us go to war with them? Japan did everyhting, they did the bombing, not germany. So why would you disagree with the comparison?

Germany and Italy officially declared war on the US on the morning of December 11, 1941, before the US's official declaration against either of these countries. With significant evidence that these declarations were not empty threats, I believe that this is cause enough for the US to go to war against both of these countries.
