I was quite surprised that this story didn't seem to be up on the boards yet so I thought i would see what Debate Politic members thought of it...

The prosecution is the third instance in weeks of alleged war crimes by US forces in Iraq, with investigations into the killing of 24 Iraqi civilians by marines at the town of Haditha in last November, and a separate inquiry into the killing of a disabled Iraqi man by marines in the town of Hamdania on April 26

Three US soldiers charged with murdering Iraqi prisoners

Personally I find this deeply concerning and yet rather unsurprising at the same time. The very context of the invasion of Iraq has made events such as this near inevitable. And what is horrifying is the scale of the problem, the slaughter of 24 civilians by US troops has troubling echoes of your past conflict in Vietnam... and yet one can’t help but feel this is just the tip of an ice burg
