The GOP recently voted down three bills, all which they think will help them in November. Bill one is the domestic terrorism bill. This bill would effect some of thsir voting block and tha would not be good if they were seen to be backing this bill by many of their voters. Another bill is the gas gauging bill. By voting sown this bill the get a two for one win. They keep their deep pocket energy companies pouting campaign funds into their coffers and secondly, they get to keep telling the public that Biden and the Dems are responsible for high gas prices which will help them in November. Finally the third bill was to give the FDA money to help solve the baby formula crisis. Now why would they wan this problem solved as they ahve been going all over the country saying the formula problem could be laid at the feet of Biden, and thus the Dems and again help their cause in November. All of these bills would have been good for the country, but the GOP care little about the country or those who will get hurt by their actions, power is all they can think of and what they want.

The republican party is a crminal enterprise.

You have not really detailed what any of these bills would accomplish so not sure what you want to debate. When do you think that oil companies took control over the oil market as an example? What changed in 2021 to give the industry more power to raise prices? As to the FDA, what would giving the agency do to spur baby formula production.

These bills would do little but give the Democrats something to say while doing little to fix real problems.

And so the R party is response is not to take the small improvement, but to do nothing. Standard.

What exactly is the small improvement you refer to? Perhaps I should have said do nothing versus do little. Tried to soften the response.

Yup, vote against things to solve issues, then blame democrats for not fixing problems. They are complete scum

And their base of lowlifes eat it up

The bills were problematic, each in their own way. Thank goodness they were voted down.

Introducing these bills was mostly a symbolic gesture by the dems.

The Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act [H.R. 7688] is actually aa rehash of another anti-gouging bill which was introduced in 2013. The Federal Price Gouging Prevention Act of 2013 [H.R. 2070] failed to pass because it was so ambiguous. The new Fuel anti-gouging bill contains practically the same wordage. It was poorly drafted, so it died on the vine.

The other 2 bills are defective (for different reasons), and the GOP was wise to reject them. These 3 bills would not have had any impact on the slaughter at the polls in the upcoming mid-term elections.

Good, anything which increases the size or scope of the state should be voted down, and all three of those idiotic bills fit.
So you are opposed to getting the state involved in abortion?

Well at least with your Avatar we have no doubt why you are against the gauging bill aren't we? We know why the OP rejected the bill and it has nothing to do with the bills, but which party was pushing them and that they might solve problems which the GOP wants to run on in Novemeber.

R's voting against increased funding to FDA to assist in formula shortage. "The bill, known as the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act, passed 231 to 192 in a vote mostly along party lines. All House Democrats supported the legislation, along with 12 Republicans who bucked their party leadership to support it. Four Republicans and one Democrat did not vote."

So you are opposed to getting the state involved in abortion?

Definitely.

What makes laws against abortion possible are physician licensing schemes, which puts doctors and patients under political control - which is exactly what people like you want. You're like a bunch of petty tyrants modeled after Mussolini:

"Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State."

↑ Progressivism in a nutshell.

Milton Friedman was calling for the abolition of physician licensing since the early 60s.

You have it backwards.

Roe was a small government conservative decision.

Republican efforts to ban it are Big government.

Roe was about which politicians should decide the issue, not about getting government out of it.

No, Roe was a small government conservative decision that got government out of decisions better left to citizens in the first trimesters. (Five of the seven justices who decided Roe were small government conservatives appointed by Republicans).

You seem to support big government efforts to get the government back into making these decisions for people.

The modern Republican party has lost its way.

Formula shortages are not the FDA's job. They are for regulatory and public safety issues. Supply chain and import of formula into the U.S. is something the Executive branch should be working on themselves? Throwing money on a department not equipped to handle such situations is throwing money away.

Yesterday the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2022 bill PASSED the House. It is pending vote in the Senate.

The Access to Baby Formula Act passed the House. . . and pending vote in the Senate.

And the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act [H.R. 7688] passed in the House, pending Senate vote.

All three of these bills are flawed in their scope and wording, and they very likely will be shot down in the Senate.

If/when these bills get shot down in the Senate, it will have nothing to do with the November elections. It will have everything to do with incompetence of the leadership in Washington. (IMO)
