NEW YORK (Reuters) - About 46,000 people are registered to vote in two states, New York and Florida, a violation of both states' laws that could affect the outcome of the November presidential election, according to an investigation by the Daily News.

Many New Yorkers spend the winter months in sunny Florida, which played a pivotal role in the 2000 election after George W. Bush narrowly won the state in a contested ballot recount. Florida could be a crucial state in the November presidential election.

The New York tabloid examined computer records to ferret out duplicate registrations in New York City and Florida.

The Daily News said it could not provide an exact count of how many people vote in both places, because millions of names are purged between elections. But the newspaper found that between 400 and 1,000 registered voters voted twice in at least one election, a federal offense punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Of the 46,000 registered in both states, 68 percent are Democrats, 12 percent are Republicans and 16 percent didn't align themselves with a party, the newspaper reported on Sunday.

The duel registrations have gone undetected because election officials do not check voter rolls across state lines, the newspaper said.

"There's no extensive investigation normally on a voter registration form," Steven Richman, general counsel for the city Board of Elections, told the paper. "We accept it at its face value"

This is just the start....

I still say it's better to give the Oval Office to the Dems now, rather than 2008. If Kerry loses, Hillary will be the Democratic choice in 2008. There is not a heir apparent for the Republicans. So, in giving up the office now, the Republicans can groom a contender for 2008. This is a game of chess people.

kerry can do a lot more damage in 4 years than you give him credit for. it is almost garentied that after taking office kerrys first order of business will be to create a new stricter AWB.

I fully comprehend how much damage Kerry can do. I also realize that what he can do is minor in comparison to what Hillary can do. She is so far left she makes Kerry look conservative. I'm not ready for a socialist/communist state.

*newsflash*

Kerry has Clinton beat for leftwing voting in Congress.

He is #1 liberal - even more so than Kennedy.

Not sure sure that is a good comparison.

That's because, from what I understand, her voting record is deplorable. Let's not forget that Hillary is, without question, a criminal.

*wips out facts*

John Kerry
Year |Voting Participation |Party Support |Presidential Support
2003 |36% |100% |30%
2002 |96% |92% |72%

Project Smart Vote

Hillary Clinton
Year |Voting Participation |Party Support |Presidential Support
2003 |99% |98% |47%
2002 |99% |93% |67%

Project Smart Vote

Unfortunatly, it is NOT a fact that she is a criminal. She has never been proven guilty. Her husband on the other hand is a ciminal and that was proven when he lied under oath in front of a grand jury.
It IS a fact however that Kerry committed attrocities in Vietnam that were criminal in nature.

Either one of these two would be diplorable to our Presidency.
Worse IMHO is Kerry.

*sigh*

Ok. I have no facts to back up anything I might say. It's all gut feeling.

I do, however, have a solution.

Let's get off our asses and find an heir.

I don't want Kerry. I don't want Hillary.

Maybe someone can convince Powell to give in and run.
