Bobby Thomson, the "Flying Scot" whose swing delivered perhaps the most famous home run in Major League history with the "Shot Heard 'Round the World," passed away Monday at age 86.

You know, the big story here is not Thompson's homer, but how the Giants, who were 13 1/2 games behind the Dodgers, went 37-7, tying the Dodgers at the end of the season, and forcing a 3 game playoff, which they won on Thompson's "shot heard 'round the world".

We will miss you Bobby, but I bet dollars to donuts that you are on the All-Star team in the sky every year now.
