Romney Surrogate: Electability Should Trump 'Beliefs And Principles' | Fox News

Staright from a GOP hourses mouth, its no longer about principles or beliefs. This really sums up why I am no longer a republican but merely an independent conservative. here is this "Romney surrogate" telling republicans to not follow conservatism but to get Romney through the nomination as quickly as possible. Basically all but saying the fix was in and Romney will be the winner regardless.

It's time for conservatives to rise up and either take back the GOP or to form a true conservative party. The GOP as it is now no longer is conservative, and this article is blatant proof of this.

I have no problem with the statement, obuma must go, it is job number one. If he is reelected you won't recognize this country in 4 years.
4 years of President Romney and we will essentially be where we will be with 4 more years of Obama. Perhaps even worse because we are likely to have a GOP congress who will rubber stamp his own liberal agenda.

It is all but over and the GOP nomination goes to a Wall Street moderate - Mitt Romney. We have had but a single caucus in a relatively small state and not yet one primary but its all but over. The right wing of the GOP is hopeless and hapless in their incompetence. They fight with each other while Romney takes a big lead and they are left to squabble about their own stupid purity tests. The debate last night illustrated this perfectly as Romney was left to rip on Obama while the others pretty much left Romney alone and bared their extremist claws upon each others flesh. If it were not so pathetic it would be funny.

QUESTION: And what will conservatives do about this?
ANSWER: Nothing except mumble and grouse and get in line next November and do what they are told by the GOP establishment.

Just like a good pet is expected to behave.

However, the opposite is true as well. A GOP Congress could push things more to the right and Romney will rubber stamp things to keep the party happy.

And you will hear that sort of thing also over the next ten months. Anything to keep the righties in line and keep laboring in that field.

Except there won't be any difference between what would happen if Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, or Obama were President in the next 4 years.

A GOP Congress won't push things more to the right.

Rather, a GOP Congress will just funnel government money to GOP corporate contributors.

Who also happen to be Democratic corporate contributors too.

I am trying to give the poor lad some hope!

More and more people are coming to this realization, they both happily expand the scope of government when it fits their personal agenda, the differences between them are pure semantics.

Don't you think the same is true of Democrats? Everyone who wanted Gitmo closed, actual support for gay rights, the public option, less militarism... There's a whole lot of things that left wing voters want that Democrats aren't giving them.

Don't bother with trying to give me any false hope lol. If this was the congress of 94 I would be ok with this, but this congress sir, is no 1994.

There is some truth to this, the democratic party has been hijacked just as the Republican party has been. I have said this many times before.... although I firmly believe a true conservative approach is more beneficial than a true liberal one, a true liberal approach would still be better than what we have now.

ABSOLUTELY! And the next election they will be screaming about how different they are even louder... and how you must fear the next four years if the other party gets in.

Agreed - an actual liberal? Didn't they go the way of the dodo?

They're called socialists now. Not that a lot of liberal ideals necessarily require or even want socialism, but that's generally what America calls its real liberals at the moment.

It's what America's right-wing calls everything that isn't them. The left. Obama... (who isn't that lefty) All of Europe. Japan... any industrialized nation out there because all o them but us have healthcare coverage for all in some format or another that is much more in-depth and bigger per capita than ours. Everyone is a socialist. One is hiding under all our beds ready to eat our children.

Yeah I suppose you guys can look at it that way, but then again anyone who doesn't conform to left wing politics is a wingnut? Personally, my take on socialism vs. liberalism is that liberalism in politics is about assistance whereas socialism is about government control and ownership. I would say that today our government is closer to socialism than true liberalism. I also feel that socialism is about as far away from liberalism as conservatism is, perhaps even further. Liberalism is about freedom but with the government giving people a boost to get there. It sounds good, and in small doses does have some merit. The only similarity I see of socialism and liberalism is they both tend to be flesh eathing economically wise. It is sort of like an addiction and to keep it going you constantly need more resources and with less to take from. liberalism at least doesn't further restrict business the way socialism does unless it becomes so extreme. Our last liberal attempt at governance was the 1970s which led to stagnation. Today we are simply going under, quickly.

I think there is plenty of conservatives that aren't wingnuts. The vast majority in office right now are of wing-nuttery land though mostly because they weild the flag of conservatism all while slipping into corporatism. So they go so far out of their way to bash people for not being conservative... like them... when they aren't even close to being one themselves.

I feel the same way about most dems in federal office in that they are slipping towards corporatism because they are chasing for the same campaign donors as the GOP now and it reflects in their policies more and more every year.

It's why I consider Libertarian conservatives sane and GOP "conservatives" a farcical joke akin to a lying insanity.

What the right-wing keeps bitching about "socialism" in our country is more of fascism where we tax the people and hand it off to corporations like... privatized prisons and stupid **** like that. I just dislike all the misnomer uses of "liberal" and "socialism". We are neither in this country. We are a corporatocracy.

All true but was it any different for the Democrats in '08? Really? Personally I thought Hillary was MUCH MORE qualified that BHO.

And maybe some new wars and various other social programs that we can't afford.
