There is a certain amount of decorum that is expected of members of the US Military. The activity shown in the photograph goes well outside the boundaries of that decorum.

Correct, however, in this case I could see non-judicial punishment being handed out.

Sawyer, some people didn't recognize that from your pic. That is why I went to get the article and so did Maggie.

Edit: If you could, there should be another option listed though if you're serious about the poll. An option for non-judicial punishment (aka Article 15). I think she should be punished, but not kicked out.

Theres LOTS of things that happen in the military that goes against what the military is. In my time in, we had people with DUIs, drinking under age, physical assaults, etc. NONE of those things exemplify the military.

Again, I think she should be punished and a field grade article 15 could do the trick IMO. No, I don't think she should be kicked out.
 

I'm sorry but I just don't see how anybody does not immediately recognize that symbol. Maybe it's an age thing. Maybe my poll could have had more options but I was so mad when I saw this on our local news that it was all I could do not to put the option of hang this b*** up.

Losing a stripe being a career killer? No, I knew a sargeant that got busted down to E-2. Before I left, he was back up to E-5. He just had to work hard and earn trust back. It added about 4 more years of progression for him, but it isn't a career killer.
 

I recognized it, but from the pic quite a bit was cut off AND the focus was on the woman in the picture. If it was the full symbol I think people would have recognized it better. I understand your anger and feel it as well. I just think the person made a mistake and it can be corrected.

It is to me too, but then you also have to realize people make mistakes. Sometimes when people do things, they don't think it through. That's what non-judicial punishment is for and is a perfect example that should be done in this case. I'm sure this person thought it was funny at the time, but now greatly regrets it given what she probably knows now. People make mistakes.

Would that include pissing on bodies of the dead? I'd suggest those who never served are clueless what 'decorum' the military has from time to time.

That said she appears to be an AF staffer- not really 'military'...

tacky as hell for sure, but if it makes you want to vomit you should never fly in a jet, ride a roller coaster- hell stay away from the Merry-go-round.
