Are you a pot-head, Focker?Originally posted by George Washington:
I think the song, "Puff the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul, and Mary is the saddest song I've ever heard in my entire life. I'm listening to it right now and I feel like crying just thinking about Jackie Paper dying and Puff being sad.
Here are the moving and powerful lyrics:
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee,
Little jackie paper loved that rascal puff,
And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff. oh
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee.
Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on puff’s gigantic tail,
Noble kings and princes would bow whene’er they came,
Pirate ships would lower their flag when puff roared out his name. oh!
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee.
A dragon lives forever but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys.
One grey night it happened, jackie paper came no more
And puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar.
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain,
Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane.
Without his life-long friend, puff could not be brave,
So puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave. oh!
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee.
I think why it makes me so sad is because it reminds me of my relationship with my first dog of whom died 5 years ago. But this song is sad, nonetheless I think.
I especially think the line, "Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane," is extremely sad. I get depressed just thinking about Puff not wanting to go out and play.

George_Washington said:Yes, I can see how that one is sad, too.
@_girL........ said:I used to cry to that song, especially when one of my high school teacher and my god brother died in one year, maybe less then a month apart. My teacher had helped me with my job of the funeral arrangements for, at the time, three year old god bro. He had died of cancer, and my teacher... a car accident.
George_Washington said:Awww, I'm sorry to hear about people close to you dying
Seatbelts are a good thing...There are 175 ways to die in a car...172 without a seatbelt on...3 with a seatbelt on...@_girL........ said:Its ok, without tragic things happening in peoples lives, we aren't able to become stronger, as individuals. Although, I was reminded of my teachers death last week, when I got into an accident I would of flew out of the window if I didn't have on my seat belt, my teacher never wore his seat belt, and flew out of the windshield after hitting a pole.
Have you ever heard the song?Originally posted by George Washington:
And what exactly do you find so sad about this song? Just wondering.
Mr. George, I can't believe you asked me that question!Changes by Black Sabbath
I feel unhappy
I feel so sad
I lost the best friend
That I ever had
She was my woman
I loved her so
But it's too late now
I've let her go
I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes
We shared the eve's
We shared each day
In love together
We found a way
But soon the world
Had its evil way
My heart was blinded
Love went astray
I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes
It took so long
To realize
That I can still hear
Her last goodbyes
Now all my days
Are filled with tears
Wish I could go back
And change these years
I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes

The Ultimate Sad Song:
Seven Spanish Angels - Ray Charles and Willie Nelson
nothing else compares
He looked down into her brown eyes and said "Say a prayer for me"
She threw her arms around him, whispered "God will keep us free"
They could hear the riders comin', he said "This is my last fight
If they take me back to Texas, they won't take me back alive."
Chorus:
There were seven spanish angels at the alter of the sun
They were praying for the lovers in the valley of the gun
When the battle stopped and the smoke cleared there was thunder from the throne
And seven spanish angels took another angel home
She reached down and picked the gun up that lay smoking in his hand
She said "Father please forgive me, I can't make it without my man"
And she knew the gun was empty, and she knew she couldn't win
But her final prayer was answered when the rifles fired again
Chorus
