Conservative judges have done this too. The expansive views of executive power held by Alito, Scalia, and Thomas are prime examples of judicial activism. And let's not forget the atrocity Bush v. Gore, which had no constitutional justification whatsoever.
That certainly doesn't excuse liberal activism on the court though. It needs to be stopped on both sides, and we need to follow the constitution.
