National Journal's Ron Fournier, a veteran DC journo who calls 'em like he sees 'em, hasn't been terribly impressed with President Obama's careening and incomprehensible handling of the crisis in Syria. In an unsparing review, Fournier concludes that Obama has demonstrated himself to be naive and isolated. Behold what 'smart power' hath wrought:

Naive about the levers of power: Where to start? Obama reversed course on congressional authorization at the last minute, after a private chat with his chief of staff, and to the surprise of his national security team--all in violation of presidential best practices. He then left the country on a quixotic trip to Russia, allowing misgivings to grow in Congress and the public before he could build a case for striking Syria. Boxed in, Obama seized upon a Russian proposal to put Syria's weapons in the hands of the international community. It's an impractical solution, a fig leaf. Either Obama trusts Russian President Vladimir Putin (a mistake) or he is a partner in deceit (an outrage).

The die hard Progressive Left lemmings of Obama will claim this is not so, When the world see's the truth.

"Presidential best practices"?

I'm just curious what the heck that is? Some kind of White House version of the FDA's Good Manufacturing Practices? Vastly superior to the Constitution of the United States of America, I presume?

Who gives a damn what the world really thinks of us. We are hated and envied by everyone. I could really give a rip what some two bit country thinks about us.

The majority of Americans do not want to spend one more dollar or have one more GI come home in a bag for a wild goose chase through Syria.

If you are so damn concerned about Syria then go by all means,, Just go for crying outloud.

I find it amusing that our president flip flops regarding his own ultimatum to Syria on national TV and his faithful still ignore his failure. Then Putin disses him internationally the majority of American see this error in judgment by Obama yet you come to his aid. Bravo.

Where do you see the majoriy of Americans coming to his aid? Far as I can tell only Obama, McCain and you are in support of going to Syria. Bon Voyage.

Hey I.m not looking for war. At the same time didn't Obama draw two red lines as a diversion to the scandals that he and his administration caused showing weakness and was goaded into having Sec. State Kerry to finally act. I may have constructed the sentence improperly. What I meant to write, is that the majority of Americans are against the war and have lost confidence in the president and his administration by his delayed indecisive actions on Syria and foreign policy in general.

It is possible for one to be totally against any American Middle Eastern involvement whatsoever and to concurrently marvel at the incredibly lackluster performance of Obama on the world stage at this time.

We shouldn't have a clueless recluse for a president. Even a high school sophomore can see that America should have an overall world plan based solely upon American interests and well being, broadcast that plan to the American people and react accordingly. Where's Obama?
