There Are No Conservative Cities, Because Conservatives Are Hill People.

How do you think lefties should fix the problem of being unhappy with lefty policies and laws?

We need to be clear on the problem.

Is the problem like you said....that they are too stupid to vote gop?

Blah blah TDS blah blah run away. Lol

You refuse to have an honest conversation. I tried but now you want to deflect yet again. No matter what you say, lefties in lefty cities are not happy with their lefty governments. That's why they're protesting and rioting.

Dude. You said what you think the problem is.

You said people in cities don't vote gop because they are stupid.

Now you want to run from the problem.

Just run away dude if you cant be honest

LOL. Lefties are protesting because they aren't happy with lefty governments!

Yeah, sure they are, must mean they are righties then, just a bunch of trump supporters eh....

Technology is making us stupid.

At a societal level that is nonsense. Computer technology is embedded in everything and is responsible for making thousands of things people take for granted possible from TVs to cars to medical care and innumerable other things.

On an individual level if you let “technology make you stupid” that my friend is on you. Computers and microprocessors are tools. If you misuse them you have no one to blame but yourself.

Blaming "Democratic cities" for a variety of things is nice, if it makes your toes squiggle, but there isn't a single conservative city in the country.

Cities frighten conservatives, and that's a good thing, because Democrats don't want conservatives in cities.

Democrats are too busy working in cities. They're producing goods and services that are then traded across the world. They are taxed on their income for the work they do. The federal government then sends these taxes in the form of subsidies out into the hills, trees, and valleys, where conservatives hide from minorities and make furious posts about Democratic cities.

And I for one don't mind helping the hill people, as long as the Democratic cities meme keeps them where they should be.

Sorry, that's a bunch of crap. While cities have many liberals, there are conservatives there as well. Such a broad brush.

Zero conservative cities. And yet the Democrat cities meme persists among the hill people.

Just thank us for subsidizing your fear and leave it at that.

We're liberals. We're glad to help . . . as long as you stay in the hills where you belong.

Let us do the heavy lifting.

Colorado Springs. LOL

There are no conservative cities in any state.

Just stay out of our way while we maintain the economy for you, thanks a bunch.

Calling people who don't live in a big city is ignorant at best.

A city with 2/3rds Democratic voters is a Democratic city.

No one ever in the history of mankind ever suggested that a city needed to contain 100 percent of Democratic voters in order to be a Democratic city.

Take a logic class. And while you're doing so, punch yourself in the face 700 times, because it really seems to work with people like you. And if it doesn't, then a service has been provided for the rest of us.

This thread requests non-morons!

Only non-morons!

If you're a moron, go post in the the Comet Ping Pong thread!

If you're a moron and you post here, then it tells me that you're too much of a moron to realize that you're a moron, and that's something worse than being a moron. In any case, I want you elsewhere.

So do that.

No subhumans allowed.

Holy crap! WTH is wrong with you? If you're representative of the 'very liberal' person and their views, you can keep it!

The sad statistical fact is that more than half the population will always be averagely or less smart. Averagely or less resistant to indoctrination. Averagely or less moral, humane, intent on self-improving, hard working, diligent, and capable of love.

Averagely or less capable of building a better world.

So always, in every generation, there will be a natural trend towards averagely dumb or dumber. Hence, there must in every generation be something to counter this trend, or all of humankind will eventually end up joining the cause de jure, spouting variations of "No, YOU're stupid!" in threads they post on the web.

Averagely? I think you're possibly on the downslope yourself.

A big, if not the biggest, reason for rural hate of the big cities is the very fact that cities are rich and they're not.

I'd thought I'd probably seen you at your most ridiculous when I just couldn't get you to understand how masks work but I see there's much more than even I thought.

Yep. Only Democrats live in cities. And only city folk produce goods and services and are taxed on their income. And Democrats don't want conservatives in cities. And only prostitutes can get AIDS.

Looks like you've got the world figured out. :coffeepap

don't you think this was a pretty dumb post?

Right, but then your proposition that

b + c > a ---> society is doomed to get dumber

fails by contradiction, we could just as readily conclude

a + c > b ---> society is destined to get smarter

:thinking

That would require that the average, who decide who is numerically superior, are equally capable of making society progress and regress.
My contention is that it requires a lot of work to get the average on the side of progress, whereas all it requires to get them on the side of regress is to do nothing.

But one flaw you don't explain is why 'city slicker lawyers' in Republican cities don't produce the same money as in Democratic cities, why in apples and apples (no pun intended on New York), Republican cities do so much worse than Democratic cities - instead, you compared cities and rural.
I know the general statistics on urban vs. rural. I don't know how professionals in "Republican cities" fare versus "Democratic cities" or even how to reliably define either.

If there's a correlation between Democratic/Republican leadership and median income for any given city size, I'll bet you dollars to dimes a sociologist will tell you the leadership tends to lag growth in the city. That is, while median incomes are low, voters will prefer lower-tax, laissez-faire Republicanism; businesses and people move in, median incomes rise, but all the "big city" problems also start to appear: crime, poverty, strained infrastructure, labour exploitation, etc. These things take a lot of regulations and public money to fix; regulations and money are expensive; hence the city's core gradually starts favouring Democratic policies, which tend to be much more socialistic.

If a city manages to maintain a stable capitalist/socialist balance, more power to them. The problems start to occur when cities become so beleaguered by their social obligations that they simply can't afford them without punishing taxes. The wealthy citizens go into exodus (as is the case in several US cities today), city revenues decline, quality of life degrades, taxes continue to increase, the citizens who can't afford to leave are left with debt and decay, and a city goes through a self-reinforcing "cycle of death" in the same way it went through a "cycle of growth". In short, the golden goose is dead at that point. Chicago is a frightening example of this.

You also didn't really offer a solution - 'they shouldn't complain'. OK then. Why can't we agree on taxing the people who society helps get the biggest rewards, people and companies, the most? And then more of that wealth can benefit the rural and other people, and actually result in a more productive economy, a bigger pie for everyone.
I'm not necessarily opposed to doing this. Although any kind of artificial wealth transfer needs to be modest and used only to help the poorest of the poor. As I'm sure you're aware, artificial wealth transfer of any kind really, really ticks people off.

If it makes you feel any better, I consider a good 95% of what people call "social progress" circa 2020 to be regressive anyway.

Hopefully we don't socially progress ourselves right over the edge of a cliff.

Billions of people take this technology for granted, not thousands. Now, how many of those people can fix that technology or understand it. Not many. What is the effect of this technology on society? Is it positive? Look around, maybe it’s having a negative effect. People are behaving rather stupidly. Just my 2 cents
I don’t abuse technology but I see young people doing it. They are always on phones. Always. Wonder what future this shall bring?

When I was a young man I literally spent hours talking to my girlfriend on phone. Are kids today really any different? They don’t talk they text. Or IM.

I don’t know about you but my phone has made my life immensely easier and more productive.

Consumer technology aside modern society is not possible without computers which is something the poster I was responding to doesn’t seem to grasp.

Typical lib. Can't win the argument so they attack the people behind the argument.

I work with my hands, I find all increased communication of cell phones wasteful.
Of course modern society is not possible without computers, earth worms know that. Lol

We are getting awfully tangential, but IMX pretty much noone ever seriously contemplates the possibility that they might be the bad regressive guy.

The Nazis thought they were the good progressive guys, and (much like our OP) used terms like "subhuman" to get around the cognitive dissonance their idelogy inevitably generated. It is a perfectly normal, but illogical, reaction to frustration to want to justify yourself when you are motivated to do something you know is bad. So in order to be more than a dumb sheep walking on two feet, you need a measuring stick to judge yourself honestly by. Obviously it is imperative that whatever you stick you use be accurate, and not based on feelings or the narrative du jour.

On personal basis, that is why I keep reminding my leftist (and rightist for that matter) RL buddies of the undeniable fact that people are not what they say or think they are, but what they do. Never in the direct relation to a specific hot-button issue of course, but just to get them to accept the idea, so they have trouble getting around it when they want to justify a bunch of crap at some later time.
(AKA "I don't care if you call yourself an anti-fascist, the glorious hip-hop army, or the enlightened Buddha. If your actions are those of a fascist, then a fascist is what you are".)
