A lot of talk by some recently about 'Old Atheists' vs. 'New Atheists'. What are the differences in the two, and specifically, when did 'New Atheism' become a thing,and why ?

An old atheist is despondent over the fact that his is coming to his hopeless end. A new atheist is just getting started on his life of stupidity for rejecting Jesus.

New Atheism is a religion. It's related to Dawkins' book The Selfish Gene, and to the Transhumanist movement. Dawkins is an evangelist against all religion and spiritual beliefs, and Kurzweil is the leader of the transhumanist, singularity cult.

Atheism is not a religion. Look up the definition of the word. Are Hindus atheists because they reject Jesus? What is the name of your cult?

Old atheism is Sartre and Camus and hundreds of millions of honest human beings who struggled with the question of god in their hearts and minds.
New Atheists are a loudmouth bunch of bullies without a coherent belief among them who followed Dawkins and Hitchens in their bigoted over-reaction to 9/11.

I think you nailed it. It doesnt seem enough for atheists to simply say they dont believe, they seem to think that their atheism impels them to mock, denounce and bully those who do.
