There may be some truth here, but not because of diplomatic skill.
The truth is that Trump was an enormous unknown, no one knew how he would react,
As the President, he had enormous capabilities at his disposal, but without knowing what
might trigger him to use that capability, I think made world leaders very cautious.
It could will be him intentionally setting that stage, or simply the way he always did business.

First off, the OP is typically myopic. Afghanistan was a cluster **** for 15 years before we left. At best all a president could do was slap some lipstick on that pig and keep the public in the dark about it. Joe said **** it and got us out. I firmly believe there was no graceful exit available. Trump was ready to hand Afghanistan over to the Taliban anyway so short of a permanent occupation that place was going to go to shit.
As for the rest, Trump, I'm sure, would have been happy to sit down and negotiate, romance, and fawn over the despotic leaders who are responsible for the shit in Ukraine and Taiwan. He loves him some dictators, after all. Me? I'll take the **** Russia and **** China route and let the chips fall where they may.

The US was always leaving Afghanistan, and the regime we set up there had far less legitimacy than anyone expected, so “this” was always going to happen.
