How many countries have we conquered in the last 70 years?

Hmm, one comes to mind quite easily. Just because America is not an imperialist in the traditional sense does not mean it does not have similar effects. America's pressuring of other nations and its own foreign policy have devastating effects on other nations.

Yeah...we conquered Iraq:roll:

Iraq...and...uh...yeah, that's about it.

What else do you call invading a country, removing its government a militarily occupying it.

Iraq...and...uh...yeah, that's about it.

And Latin America where the US has huge influence over what is happening.

Umm...occupation?

That's not the same as conquering it or having expansionist goals. There is NO support anywhere on the American political spectrum for making Iraq a part of the United States.

Our occupation of Iraq will be temporary. The American people won't stand for it for much longer, and our military can't take the strain for much longer. The US military just isn't built to be an imperial force.

The US has relatively little military influence in Latin America, and therefore is not expansionist or imperial. Our influence is primarily economic.

I voted "something else" as in
this is just another retarded poll by max...

Right, but we are there to set-up a government in the Middle East and because there is oil there.

I forget the government care what the people think. And dont bring up VIetnam, different time, different event.

Imperialism can be economic.

Its pathetic to see the direction the world is taking and the worst of it has happened during Americas "watch"..

Welcome back, Max. It's a shame to see you're still blaming everything on America.

I bet that the corporations making profit off of this war would love you.
They would kill you, stuff you full of feathers, and call you their mascot.

And what do the Jihadists call you?

Infidel? "Useful Idiot" American? Or brother?

Right, but we are there to set-up a government in the Middle East and because there is oil there.

We are there because Democratization is in long term U.S. and Global interests, it's called Democratic Peace Theory, get used to it.

Imperialism can be economic.

What ****ing empire? The thing is that with imperialism from the Roman to the British it requires one thing, a god damn empire, there is no U.S. empire and no your leninist "neo-imperialist" rhetoric which seeks to explain why capitalist nations do not collapse and actually prosper while communist regimes stagnate, gets no play here, I see through the excuses and the bullshit.

And what do the Jihadists call you?

I am sorry though, I didn't mean to be so crude.
What I really meant to say was that you made a horrible analogy.
You stretched it so far I can't imagine you even believe it.

Many persons on the left side of the political spectrim have a hard time understanding how persons on the right side can possibly be sane if they believe what they believe.

Conversely, many persons on the right side of the political spectrim have a hard time understanding how persons on the left side can possibly be sane if they believe what they believe.

Thus we have unending debates.

:ranton:
Person A vs. Person B
A. I am right.
A. Here is why.
B. You must be insane to believe such, because.
  • You are opposite me.
  • Your point does not agree with mine.
  • Your point does not come from a source which agrees with me, so it must be biased, and here is why (gives proof)
A. You must be insane to believe such, because:
  1. Your given proof is not proof at all, because:
    • I don't agree with it.
    • I don't believe in the credibility of the source you gave for your proof.
  2. I don't agree with you.
B. You are even more insane than I thought, because your sources are all false.
A. No, YOUR sources are all false, here's why.
B. No, they are valid, because your proof as to the truthfullness of my proof is untrue, along with your proof that the proof you gave for the falseness of my proof is true.

Me reading debate:

ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After living in dusins of European countries I have realized, we arent that much better ourself, if at all, just marginally in better values. Which is why I pose the question.

Thats all well and good, but the foundation of the human society is in great decline. Not only are we all slaves(the ones who havent bought themself freedom), but the utmost free in the world are poor Africans, while Americans who proclaim themself richest and most powerful is a nation full of slaves, the slaves who actually take the heaviest burdon by working all the time.

This is just one thing, we are all prisoners in our own society, but the other thing is how we live our lives, and how little the good values of christianity and Jesus matters to us at this time of the world. Not only have we all become selfish petty bastards who care about nothing else than ourselves and the illusion that the hunt to free ourselves from slavery is.

Good for you? Or is it? what has the modern money system become, this which Americans loves more than anyone else, the chase for most money and our own way out of our pathetic lives. How much action and harsh reality do people get to see these days anyways? Havent life become predictable and boring compared to life only a few hundred years ago?
Even if you manage to free yourelf from slavery by obtaining enough money, your life still sucks because the world has become nothing but a place of rotten values, selfishness. The world richest guy passing the worlds poorest guy on the street, without even being able to comprehend or emphasise with his world.

This is just the start, we are all going to ****ing hell if this continue, that I can tell you all for sure.. International politics have become a competition of flashing dicks in the shower rather than caring about whats really going on. And if some kind of world conflict is not near when Russia is provocing the UK more and more and savaging scandinavian Airspace, then the economy is about to completely collapse.

So where are things really heading?

(this is the short version with a mention of the few of many things, and if you happen not to be able to see any of this, then lucky you until you have to manage when the world has collapsed)

Im not comparing America to any of the others, I am comparing ****ed up world we live in to how things could be.

But I do believe American culture is one of the main reasons for the surge of selfisness and lack of values ion todays world.

How many countries have we conquered in the last 70 years?

Well, if one doesnt count those nations which soverignty you have taken at one point or the other then only a few.. Iraq, Afghanistan most recently. You tried Vietnam as well. Then you took soverignty from dusins of middle and south American nations, and a few other nations as well.

Umm Americans CHOOSE to work more than people in most other countries, just like Europeans CHOOSE to have more leisure time at the cost of productivity. It's simply a different cultural priority, and neither is right or wrong. Try to take off your ethnocentric blinders before you make such ridiculous assertions.

Ya, I stopped reading this paragraph after you went all Jesusy.

Capitalism has improved the standard of living around the world more than any other economic arrangement since the beginning of human civilization.

Umm a few hundred years ago, most people lived on farms (or in the squalor of cities), worked their asses off from sunrise to sunset, and died around age 30.

Bill Gates and Warren Buffett both have donated BILLIONS of dollars to helping the poor. I hate to burst your bubble, but the vast majority of rich people (at least in the USA) are not scrooges.

Yep, the end is nigh. Never heard THAT before. But I'm sure you're right this time.

What a complete load of bullshit better to earn my wages through the private sector than to have my subsistence dolled to me by the state or as Marxist useful idiots would have it "society". Furthermore; the largest slaves in the world are the slaves to Islam and the slave to Communism, the only free people on this planet are those with political and economic freedom and U.S. has far out paced our European cousins in the economic freedom area due to their socialistic cattle mindsets.

The hell Europeans choose that, it's state mandated, it's illegal for them to work more than the alotted time.

A) Sovereignty is much kinder to the dicator than it is to Democracy, if a tyrant takes power by force, maintains that power through force, then just who are you to say that an outside power doesn't have the right to remove that tyranny through force? Sovereignty should only be an issue when the peoples in question have self determination within the nation in question.

B) All of Latin America is now free with stable Democracies save ofcourse for Castro's Cuba where our intervention didn't go far enough, other countries who have once again turned to socialism IE Bolivia and Venezuela are quickly becoming less and less free.

C) Unfortunately for the people of Vietnam American resolve was not strong enough to stop the Communist dictatorship from rising to total power.
