This is the What If Game. Basically I'll start out with a what if _______ in history and the person who responds first then gives their own What If and then the person who responds answers and gives their own What If and so on.

What If Nelson had served in the French Navy? How much would that had impacted the Napoleanic War's namely the planned assault on England.

What if the CIA didn't kill JFK and his plan to take troops out of Vietnam had happened?

What if Hitler Stopped D-Day in WWII

lol, well if "whoever" killed JFK ;)

I think JFK wouldn't have been bullied by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Macnamera and got the US out of Vietnam by '65.

South Vietnam would then have fallen into a quick civil war where Ho Chi Min would've prevailed.

The US might not have developed its Military technologies as it did because of the Vietnam war which probably would have lead to extending the cold war.

Not to mention we would never have learned from our many mistakes in Vietnam.

Are we supposed to provide what we think will happen?

Incase : The USSR would have pushed past Germany and taken control of most of Europe.

What if the USSR had lost at Stalingrad?

What if Lincoln had to deal with today's media?

the emancipation proclamation would have been deemed racist and a Republican trojan horse piece of legislation, what if Heron of Alexandria's steam engine would have been adopted by the Roman Republic 2000 years ago?

Nelson was the British admiral who defeated the French navy right? Well things may have turned out very differently but I think there were other factors at work in the downfall of Napolean, such as, the Russian scorched earth policy, the Prussian military tactics, and the overwhelming size of the British navy. What if Annie Oakley had shot arch duke ferdinand in the head?

What if Marcus Antonius and Kleopatra had won the Battle of Actium?

• Augustus Caesar would have been defeated... and the ensuing history of the Roman Empire (and thus the world) would have been profoundly different.

You're not supposed to answer your own question.:doh :2wave:

What if the '93 World Trade Center bombing worked like terrorists intended and took out the foundation and fell all at once?

Then I fear I would have become a staunch Clinton supporter and Democrat, a rabid anti conservative because of their isolationist views and constant war protests.

Yep because then Octavian/Augustus as Caesars adopted son would not have become the first true emperor of rome, maybe the Republic would have survived but I doubt it because the constant civil war, corruption, chaos and insecurity experienced by the people made them hope for a strong central leader to maintain order. If it had not been Caesar or Augustus then some other popular general or politician with to much ambition would have stepped up to fill the slot. Interesting thought though.

Don't forget that Caesar and Kleopatra had a son together... Caesarian. This heir to Caesar was murdered by Augustus soon after both Marc Antony and Kleopatra committed suicide.

If Antony and Kleopatra had prevailed at Actium, the succession line of a Rome/Egypt Empire would probably have fallen initially to Caesarian, and then on to the twin offspring of Antony and Kleopatra... Alexander Helios (Alexander the Sun) and Kleopatra Selene (Kleopatra the Moon).

I pressume you are intending to highlight the irony of the hopeless 'War on Terror' in Iraq & the fact that no lessons seemed to have been learned from Vietnam ?
What if the bomb in the Wolf's lair in 1944 hadn't been moved a few feet away from Hitler to the opposite side of the heavy table leg ?

Yes but if Marc Anthony had won he would probably have became emperor and killed Caesarian since he fought Caesar it proves he cared little for the line of succession afterall Julius basically pulled a military coup de'ta on the Republic of Rome, so his claim to leadership was illegitimate in the first place, also, the people of Rome really hadn't noticed that things had changed after the take over because the emperors were always careful to leave the appearance of a democratic Republic to keep the favor of the masses.

hmm

what if the genghis khan didn't die, and the mongols continued their assault into Europe?

what if China didn't dismantle their gigantic exploration fleets?

what if Hannibal won against Rome?

What if alexander the great didn't get sick and die?

what if a storm hit columbus' ships before he could return?

this game can go on forever...

Marc Antony and Kleopatra would probably have ruled from Alexandria, which both preferred because of its cosmopolitan atmosphere. How could Marc Antony murder one of Kleopatra's children in Egypt and expect to survive her wrath? I think the children would have been mere figureheads, and Antony and Kleopatra would have ruled a Rome/Egypt empire as Regents until their respective deaths. Rome had the land and sea-going military might, and Egypt the boundless treasure to support it. This would have been a formidible union.

What if Hitler hadn't attacked Russia?

What if the US hadn't joined the war?

What if Japan hadn't attacked Pearl Harbor?

Japan and Germany would have attained nukes before us.

Think they would have used them?
