It's not a paper anymore. Bezos has taken it and is leveraging its name for state propaganda. Real journalists fled. IT reminds me of what happened to Newsweek, only sadder.Jeff Bezos has completely destroyed a once outstanding newspaper.
The criticism of Donald Trump in the Washington Post opinion pages has become non-existent. It is absolutely chilling to behold. No more Dana Milbank. No more Eugene Robinson. No more Jennifer Rubin. No more David Ignatius. No more Ruth Marcus.
I held out hope until recently. Dana Milbank was still being very critical of Trump until a few weeks ago....and now he has been eerily silent as well.
It's ironic that the Washington Post still has the headline "Democracy Dies In Darkness" on their webpage. They have allowed democracy to die with their subjugation to Trump.
I'm cancelling my subscription.

They may gently rock the boat from time to time now.....but they will never again forcefully proclaim that the ship is sinking with Trump at the helm.I don't read them terribly often nowadays, but their opinion page today seemed reasonably anti-Trump. It is more based on economic arguments about tariffs than some others, but arguably, this is a more plausible route to reach Republicans.
No, I don't trust Bezos, but I'm not sure I see this night-and-day change that clearly.

The decisive question is who enlightens the people, who educates them? In those countries, it is actually capital that rules; that is, nothing more than a clique of a few hundred men who possess untold wealth and, as a consequence of the peculiar structure of their national life, are more or less independent and free. They say: 'Here we have liberty.' By this they mean, above all, an uncontrolled economy, and by an uncontrolled economy, the freedom not only to acquire capital but to make absolutely free use of it. That means freedom from national control or control by the people both in the acquisition of capital and in its employment. This is really what they mean when they speak of liberty. These capitalists create their own press and then speak of the 'freedom of the press.'
In reality, every one of the newspapers has a master, and in every case this master is the capitalist, the owner. This master, not the editor, is the one who directs the policy of the paper. If the editor tries to write other than what suits the master, he is ousted the next day.
Absolutely. He had help from Will Lewis, a man not worthy to be a newspaper boy at that institution.Jeff Bezos has completely destroyed a once outstanding newspaper.
you are being disingenuousCongrats, you hold the same position as Marx. Are you proud of that?
You ask me that like he said something that was incorrect in your bolded.Congrats, you hold the same position as Marx. Are you proud of that?

Your lack of education and/or denial is your burden then. Not Marx's or mine.It is incorrect.

Hitler was a leftistI'm sorry, I got Marx confused with another leftist. It was actually Hitler who wrote those words you approve of:
Hitler was a leftist
He was an extreme crony capitalist. A right wing fascist. Closer to the phony American libertarian than anything else.He was an extreme collectivist, a revolutionary, and he supported public control over the means of production.
What more do you want?

Correct. They do not. Many of them have left the WaPo and no opinion writers currently there are forcefully criticizing Trump the way the others I mentioned above did.I don't follow the post that much. Are you saying these writers no longer write anti-Trump or anti-Maga opinions or that they no longer are published by the Post?
Hitler was such a "leftist" that he started the biggest war in human history against the USSR, a communist country. He was an extreme collectivist, a revolutionary, and he supported public control over the means of production.

Hitler was such a "leftist" that he started the biggest war in human history against the USSR, a communist country.
Hitler was such a "leftist" that his Nazi storm troopers beat up socialists and communists to the point where they were basically non-existent in Germany by 1932.
The term "privatization" had to be invented to describe what he did
Yes, because the Nazis never used that term. They called it gleichschaltung.
Funny how Nazi "privatization" resulted in the Nazi's having more control over the economy.

Hitler stated many times that he believed Marxism should be destroyed. Hence, why he attacked the Soviet Union.Yes, and the Bolsheviks murdered the Mensheviks, therefore the Bolsheviks were right wing, correct?
Socialist states fighting each other happens all the time. For example.
?? These "Beefsteak Nazis" had to hide the fact that they were socialists and communists "on the inside", as your article claims. More pure nonsense from you. You are actually proving my point.Socialists and communists were welcomed into the Nazi party with open arms.
