Unless Congress and the President act, the Iraq war is going to be illegal on January 1,2009. Congress authorized the president to conduct this insane war in 2 parts. The first part, getting Saddam Hussein, was completed long ago. The rub is in the second part - Enforcing UN resolutions. Guess what? The last UN resolution dealing with Iraq expires on December 13st of this year, and it means that after that date, the Iraq war is in violation of US law.
Interesting, isn't it? And political too. Next year, as the Democrats and Republicans point the fingers at each other for committing an unlawful act, Bush for the first few days of January, and the Democrats after that, I am going to be kicking back, eating popcorn, and enjoying the show.
Republicans - We only had the presidential power for a few days this year, after the war became illegal. How could we have pulled all the troops out, and ended the occupation in just a few days? Democrats have the presidency now, and our troops are still over there. This entire war is the fault of the Democrats.:mrgreen:
