We've known for some time that the MAGAverse is an alternate world unconnected to the one we live in, but now that Trump is (extremely) "Large and In Charge" the all-out assault on reality has kicked into high gear, and the casualties (real ones) are mounting.

Just this week, the EPA has decided that CO2 is no biggie because climate change isn't real, the Smithsonian has sent Trump's two impeachments to the memory hole, the CPB has been shuttered so that actual neutral news can't be broadcast, and the Commissioner of the BLS was sacked for publishing economic data - i.e., doing her job.

Meanwhile, active efforts to cover up Trump's relationship with the Jeffrey Epstein/Ghislaine Maxwell (he wasn't just best buds with Jeff) pedophile ring have included sending his personal defense lawyer to spike/control testimony from the only convicted member of the conspiracy, sending her to "camp" in Texas (in violation of BoP protocol), redacting hundreds of references to Trump and friends from the record, making Trump out to be the real victim, and brazenly lying about what they're doing.

There are literally thousands of examples of the regime actively attacking science and history to create a fictional narrative. In some cases, reality still seeps through: inflation is up, the job market is crashing, the supply chain is slowing and the stock market is trembling. But the assault is so broad, so sustained and so vicious that historical and irreparable damage is being done to our national culture.

Fighting back is difficult, because the insurgents have seized control of the government and are using every avenue to corrupt it. The work needs to be done from the outside, at the State and local level, and through corporations and associations that are not beholden to government contracts, but it desperately needs to be done. We, as a country, need to tighten our grip on reality, and not succumb to the tide of unreality.

I wish us all the best.

It's even worse than that. The insurgents keep winning in open and fair elections.

One kind of dim witted ideology does not negate the other.

If non-science believers want to think biological males can get truly pregnant and carry a child to term it’s dim, but it’s not going to hurt me.

However Trump’s actions are diminishing to our Constitutional Republic, threatening middle and working class fiscal solvency, and he’s getting rich behind it all lining his pockets with crypto fraud and backroom real estate deals with foreign Princes.

If you MAGA folk don’t DISCERN there is a difference in the levels being discussed…

Pregnant males, not scientifically accurate. Dim.

Pushing us closer to the next Great Depression while simultaneously retrograding our Constitutional Republic, MUCH worse. Far more dim.

I suppose showing an unwillingness to engage is a form of leadership, yes.
That's a false dichotomy. I lead by example, and am engaging with people on a personal level. I don't like to model the unhelpful behavior. That's not sitting out.

I remember Trump saying Covid would go away if we just ignored it.

That's our reality now.

I wouldn't call that an accurate description of post #7.
