Let's travel way, way in to the future. Man has now found and occupied planets. Different planets offer differing attributes. Some planets actually depend on what another planet have. These minerals are now transported from one planet to the other on a regular basis. Gradually trade becomes an uncomfortable issue betwen these inhabited planets and man being man has no choice but to.......... (you fill in the blanks)
 
My answer would depend heavily on why trade becomes an uncomfortable issue. People generally seem to like trading with each other; we do it all the time.
