I love the irony of seeing someone who seems to be incapable of using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation disparaging someone else's intelligence.

There is no evidence that will solve abortion. It's like swearing. Prove swearing is wrong. You can't. It's a belief.

This is the reason why I don't enter into these debates. They go nowhere.

Why?

Same reason I would never cheat on my husband (if I had one): it's selfish. But I certainly think that adultry should be legal.

Ha, another astute vilification.

Its a privelage to be the acolyte of Ivan the Terrible.

Really?

You will see, in the future.

You promise?

Consider the following:

First off, please understand that I do have a huge moral problem with abortion. I think it is killing and I think it is morally wrong.

That being said, there are many other things in our society that are legal. Swearing, gambling, pornography, and alchohol are just a few, so why are they legal? One word: Minorities. The Bill of Rights are constitutional amendments instead of normal statutes because of minorities. The majority can already use the power of the vote to push a regular bill through Congress. That's why the Founding Fathers did not include the Bill of Rights in the original transcript of the Constitution. Federalists argued that they were not necessary because the We the People clause alone stated that the people forfeited nothing. It wasn't until minorities were brought up that Federalists promised the Bill of Rights to be added, or so says my son's history textbook.

So after the case of Maybury vs. Madison, establishing judicial review, the Supreme Court took it upon themselvs over the years to extend civil rights to minorities. Every declaration of a law to be unconstitutional helps the Bill of Rights change and grow. Some rulings against popular laws, such as Scott vs. United States, legalizing slavery nationwide until the 13th Amendment was added, may be controversial rulings, but they all have one good thing in common: They make the Bill of Rights stronger.

My conclusion: While abortion is greatly wrong in my opinion, I feel obligated to support Roe vs. Wade simply because it is an extension of minority rights, and for that reason alone. Over and out.
Nice of you to pick probably THE stupidest attempt at debate on the entire abortion forum. That doesn't help prove your point that ALL the debate there is pointless vanity it just proves you know how to spot a pointless fool when you see one. Yeah...there's a LOT of crap over there on both sides--but not all of it is crap.

I agree! I am simply saying that one cannot argue with belifes. Especialy libral ones on this site anyways. How do you feel about abortion? Why did you think that post was stupid?

Because 9 months isn't that big of a burden to me. To some women it is. Their call.

I can't see how 9 months can be a burden to anyone... Well, not yet at least.:(

Trust me sweetie....it's no picnic being pregnant. I don't consider it a burden, because I actually WANT my child, but not all women feel that way. I'm not even a full two months into this pregnancy and it's already wreaking havoc with my body.....I'm actually kind of glad that I don't have a job right now, because I can go take a nap whenever the mood strikes me.....and it does almost every day. Running to the bathroom every hour is a pain in the ass, my boobs feel like they weigh about 20 pounds each, I'm constantly nauseous (though I haven't actually puked yet, thank goodness)......not to mention what these hormones do to a girl's emotions!!! It doesn't bother me, because to me, it signifies that my baby is growing and thriving, but some women see it as nothing but one huge hassle.......

I understand this, I have been around so many women that were pregnant and ended up having a miscarriage. For this reason, I cannot see why a woman would subject a child to death, no matter the havoc on her body it causes. For instance, my mother vomited the entire 9 months, when she was pregnant with me, she was supposed to be bed written, but she couldn't because she needed to work. I am the only child out of god knows how many miscarriages she had. Yeah, thats me that ended up with no siblings.

Well, not going to weigh in on whether or not debating abortion is an act of vanity-- or whether or not either side is a vain position-- but I will tell you one thing: it warms my heart every single time that a right-to-lifer tells me that I should've been aborted because I disagree with them.

And posting to this thread is definitely an act of vanity.

That sounds stupid, for someone to say that you should of been aborted, because you support kiling an innocent. Thats like saying you should die also, if you support the death penalty, except you are the innocent and the person up for it, isn't. My point, I would never tel a person that they should of been aborted, its just a way of trying to get them out of peoples 'hair'. If you weren't there, your opinion wouldn't matter.

And posting to this thread is definitely an act of vanity.

I thought that was a given, look at the title!!!

Heh. Being in favor of the death penalty, I've also had a few people tell me that I ought to be executed. Not nearly as many, though.

Foolish, foolish meat creatures.
