Putin is gonna annex four major sections of Ukraine..
Bush illegally invaded Iraq in 2003.
There are dozens of conflicts going on that the UN "doesn't approve of."
The UN is a clownish joke.
Nation states will do what's in their best interest.
We need to stop funding the UN and let it die.

No, there are tons of useful things the UN does (research coordination, aid distribution, translation services) that never get any media attention but are good things to have in the international community.

The problems with the UN are intrinsic to international politics in many cases and getting rid of it wouldn't solve anything, while making some things worse.

Yes, the United Nations -- like the League of Nations -- has failed to achieve its intended purpose.

With China and Russia having the veto, what can you expect!

Furthermore, some of the representatives are not necessarily people of good character. Don't know if it still continues, but some U.N. reps were arrogantly ignoring the parking regulations (their excuse: diplomatic immunity).

But what international entity will excuse US militarism?

I'd be okay funding a reformed UN. The current Security and Human Rights Councils are a joke and need to be completely replaced.

A UN with a two-tiered membership is what's needed. The upper tier would have voting rights and would be limited to nations with democratically elected governments and with proven track-records of respecting human rights. The lower tier (with only speaking rights, not voting rights) would include all other nations.

You want WWIII now? Strength in numbers, remember? Putin wants the U.N. gone. Does that tell you anything?

When Islamabad and New Delhi no longer have UN front and back channels to work out the next three month plan not to nuke each other, the Indus, and the Bay of Bengal into nightmare dystopias, you might rethink this sentiment.

The UN is in real need of reform.

Terrible players can veto Security Council actions for their own benefit and an obvious FU to everyone else, as others have pointed out the Human Rights Council is a sick joke with awful governments involved even today, the UN Climate Summit ends up a well travelled to first class on private jets and fleets of limos irony filled fiasco, and their advocacy programs and various other councils get a few things done and not very efficiently or even applied all that well when they do.

Expensive and bloated, filled to the brim with squabbling bureaucrats most with dubious intentions, difficult to negotiate, and ultimately has done very little... as in almost nothing... to make the planet all that peaceful.

Any international body that exists would have to, otherwise the US (and China and Russia) would refuse to join it and it would be defunct on arrival.
