The truth comes out about the FL math books.

The article takes a stab at DeSantis's choice of publisher, inferring that it's just as woke as the others he rejected:

Accelerate Learning's website includes a diversity statement: "Our nation’s black communities have long faced the repeated, harmful effects of systemic racism within the justice and education systems."

It's 2022, and virtually all business have some kind of contrived, race-based statement in order to fit in. As if Pearson, Scholastic, McGraw-Hill, Cengage and Houghton Mifflin don't have a diversity statement on their websites.

The tallahassee Democrat... yeah no bias to that source, huh?

Jesus H. Christ. Did you post this because you wanted to draw attention to the stupid?

The first issue of the Weekly True Democrat was published March 3, 1905. Founder, editor and publisher John G. Collins, a career printer and journalist, said the name came from the paper's promised dedication to "the true and tried principles of Old Time Democracy."

I'm surprised you may not post about black people.

1 publisher allowed for math books in FL. A publisher that used to belong to now governor Youngkin (R VA) and that he still has strong ties to. Youngkin, if you'll remember, signed an executive order to "end the use of inherently divisive concepts, including critical race theory, and restoring excellence in K-12 public education in the commonwealth," a measure that's comparable to DeSantis' "Stop WOKE Act" about 5 minutes after taking office.

2+2=BLM, you know.

*gasp* you can post a splash line about a media source... I am AMAZED... and NOW I know what it proposed to be over 100 years ago!

too bad It's a biased rag source today.

so we can see who will defend it.
How do you feel about this: nominate a candidate to run as a republican in every district in Florida. A moderate candidate who swears to abide by the constitution and obstruct desantis AND with the last name Rubio, Pence, Trump, Bush, or Reagan. Because the GOP is conditioned to remain ignorant, many will vote for anyone named Trump in the primary. And every Democrat will register as a Republican and vote for that candidate. I'm honestly not trying to draw attention to the plan because I see no reason it wouldn't work, but it's really annoying to me that nobody even notices. Am I missing something?

Too bad you didn't know what you were posting about. Too bad you made a fool out of yourself. Too bad it's known as a center right publication today.

math is ghey

to republicans

I've just read some of their stories... only to a radical left progressive is that the "center right".

Wokeness is a disease and this kind of thing is the cure. I love it.

As time goes on businesses, especially businesses that need educated people, like tech are going to wonder, maybe even out loud , if moving their employees, and employee families to red states whose schools at this rate will be 3rd world like, is a good idea.

Some years ago as I was returning from the east coats there was this talk show in which Dick and Lynn Cheney were the guests. Education was a topic in watch these two thought American history should begin
with Ronald Reagan becoming president. Jaw dropping. And they were thinking that religion should be included in every subject. And this is how they believe public education should be managed.

My first thought .......maybe for your children BUT NOT MINE.

I say Parents need to take a deep interest in the textbooks just to see IF the radical right wing is publishing the facts instead of right wing BS. After this group of people does want teach children Fascism is OK.

Ann Richards should still be governor of Texas and Florida might should become a first victim of global
warming /climate change.

A tad right-center. High factual reporting.

  • Overall, we rate the Tallahassee Democrat Right-Center Biased based on editorial positions that slightly favor the right. We also rate them High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and a clean fact check record.
Obviously you missed the fact that that so-called "newspaper" has the word "Democrat" in its name and the inclusion of that word should be all you need to know in order to juskno that it is a flaming red, socialist, liberal, commie, propaganda rag - right?

Not that I doubt your post in even the slightest bit, but I sure would like some more information so I can see if I can track down what you recall them saying. Can you help? Can you even remember the decade?

Florida’s Department of Education has banned 54 mathematics textbooks from classroom instruction, saying they feature prohibited topics, including critical race theory. That’s more than 40% of all textbooks submitted to Florida for review. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis praised the move, accusing publishers of seeking to indoctrinate students. In response, the head of Florida’s largest teachers’ union demanded transparency into who ordered the book bans and for examples of “objectionable” content.

A report published recently by PEN America found that in the past eight months alone 86 school districts in 26 states banned more than 1,100 titles in classrooms and libraries. Books about Black and LGBTQ+ people were heavily targeted, and the most banned book of the year was “Gender Queer: A Memoir,” by Maia Kobabe, who is a nonbinary author and illustrator.

Florida just needs to release specific examples from the text books they rejected. So far all they have released is a list on books they rejected.

Give us some specific examples.

/sarcasm on
Maybe they found math problems like this:
6 members of Congress want to share 5 ounces of coke. The 6 members are 4 Republicans and 2 Democrats. How much coke does each member of Congress get?

I don't understand the anger being directed at Disney.. So they disagreed with DePutin.. Isn't that allowed anymore?

Republicans want Corps to be treated as individuals.. Disney the individual disagrees with Florida's government.. Free speech and all of that..

Ah but they are disagreeing with a Republican.. So free speech is out the window... Lol
