The trumpkin rubes are not going to like this:

Ever since news broke two weeks ago that the FBI had executed a search warrant on former President Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago, the political world has been aflame with hyperbole, accusations, innuendo, and hysteria.

Every legal pundit and pundits pretending to know something about the law have emerged to try and explain what is really happening here. And the former president and his allies, as is their custom, have sought to flood the zone with political justifications and haphazard legal explanations to deflect from his conduct.

The truth needs to be set forth plainly and simply, and so let’s get down to brass tacks here. What happened on August 8, 2022, was not tyranny. It was not political persecution. It was not a minor dust up over bureaucratic processes blown out of proportion. It was the criminal justice system operating just like it does with any other private citizen on any other given day ending in a "y."

yawn...

We've heard this before from judges, only to find out, way after the fact, that those judges were lied to.

Only by knowing exactly what the DOJ told this judge, will we ever be sure that he wasn't lied to, as well.

I've got some bad news for you. You're going to learn that information, so you might want to start working on your next goal post right now.

Uh-oh--Fox "News" is finally admitting that the search was justified?

Quick, righties--start calling Fox "liberal media"!

Sure. So was the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. When the standard for whether or not something was justified is along the lines of, "A confidential informant, whose identity we can't disclose for national security reasons, said..." then pretty much anything is justifiable.

You’ll just say he’s lying too if he does tell you. And any redaction to keep trump’s thralls away from any witness’ kids’ bedroom windows will be proof of the conspiracy.

That’s the problem with a playbook drafted for the ignorant:

It looks really stupid to those who aren’t ignorant.

At least it keeps people at work making up new lies and tending to them online, right Mycroft? Y’all gotta pay the landlords too!

Good thing Durham put all those folks in prison for the decades they deserved for all that, huh?

A lot of criminals would get off scot free if it wasn't for confidential informants. Even with an informant it still has go through the legal process.

All applause for the justice system.

What the FBI did sent a strong message to Trump and anyone observing.

There was also this opinion piece on Fox news.........are they pivoting away from Trump?

"If one believes in limited government, then the legal process around the Mar-a-Lago search reflects a justice system working properly. The Justice Department investigated and attempted to negotiate for the return of the illegally removed documents. The DOJ initiated the search warrant only after a Trump lawyer falsely signed a statement saying that all classified materials had been returned even though the search evidently retrieved documents marked Top Secret, meaning they could cause "exceptionally grave harm" to the country, including endangering the lives of intelligence sources. "

From your OP source:

That is not an abuse of law enforcement processes. That is how the law works.

You cannot remove properly marked classified documents and place them in a location not authorized for retention of classified documents. You cannot obstruct a federal investigation seeking to lawfully recover those documents. You cannot present false statements to federal investigators.
Those search warrants also tend to result in agents rummaging through areas that contain personal items but which fall within the scope of the search warrant, just as happened at Mar-a-Lago. The individuals subject to the search warrant also are not permitted access to the underlying probable cause affidavit unless and until there is an actual criminal indictment. Trump is not special in that regard.

Wha???

This is Fox News???

If they have DeSantis on tonight singing the same or similar song, we'll know what's up! ;)

Yeah, how about that?

I will agree when we have an indictment. The DOJ allegedly found what they were looking for. If this does not rise to the level of criminality in their minds then this was a publicity stunt. Same result could have been found with a less dramatic move.

Bet they have DeSantis on but DeSantis isn't going to cross the Trump base just yet. He needs them. After seeing parts of his performance stumping in AZ and PA I suspect he will be pumping his "anti woke" policies. I think the Fox pivot away from Trump and to DeSantis is well underway.

Let's, for the sake of argument, run with that as true, you are talking about FISA court, which on has only rejected 85 search requests (wire taps, not entering a home) out of 41,222 requests. Its a rubber stamp, largely thanks to Republicans. The FISA court is interested in protecting national security against foreign enemies.

The Trump warrant was authorized by a US district court. The charter of a federal court is protect rights of citizens. The bar is much, much higher to obtain a warrant federal court.

Arguing that the ease by which Carter Page was investigated is not all relevant to why Trump's home was visited by the FBI. Suggesting such is either disingenuous (a form of lying) or just ignorant.

This requires Garland to be sloppy.

So the article confirms what I suspected in terms of adhering to the standard document review process:

FoxNews article said:
In a competent White House, this process would have started within days of his election loss and would have been completed well in advance of his departure for Florida on January 20, 2021. It was not.
Had this been followed, I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened.

If you remove the email that was altered the fact remains everyone agreed that crossfire was perfectly legit in opening up.

But this is where the right decides to hate on cops because they go after their own.

This is what cops do. They open up investigations and sometimes they don't pan put and other times they do.

Not everything is a csi special with semen everywhere to wrap up the case in an hour.

Also we all know you guys didn't whine about this with Hillary so your fake outrage is honestly ****ing stupid.

This requires Garland to be sloppy.
He is. Why on earth would you take your warrant application to a judge who recused himself from another case involving the same person just six weeks prior. That was sloppy. And then resist releasing the justification for that application when it could eliminate all question of judicial bias. That’s even sloppier.
