The Topsy Turvy Era of British politics

Kennedy has admitted his drinking problem in public and is try to overcome it with professional help and has called for a leadership contest - which he probably still win. Do you guys think that because of cameron the Lib Dems need a new leader? The way things are going I can't see the Lib Dems are going to gain any seats, maybe lose some.

Now for our American friends who don't know Cameron is leader of the Conservative party. Could you imagine Bush saying that?? lol that's why I LOVE British politics, none of this partisan cr*p.

But seriously the Conservatives are calling themselves liberal? WTF? Maybe Maggie will say sorry to the coal miners now! lol lol

Labour Party, formerly socialists now are conservatives.
Conservative party are now supposedly liberal.
Lib Dems are basically now the socialists of the whole parliament.
It's quite funny and I'm loving it.

im thinking Cameroons new found leftyness could ultimatly be counter-productive because it could lead to more infighting and maybe cameroons resignation. If you look at the about of bitching theres been about him in the telegraph recently its plain to see alot of those on the right dont like him. This includes alot of influential think tanks and journalists so im thinking that if the right of the partys kicks up a fuss its just going to lead to more trouble.

I dont like this whole "move the party to center" thing though. You hear alot of this about the lib-dems the greens and most other partys. If partys carry on doing this most peoples views will be unrepresented. Im espically hopeing the lib-dems not move the center if a right-winger replaces Kennedy as they where the closest thing the left had to any decent representation.

Interesting that the Telegraph is already starting to bicker about him. Thats shorter than the usual time the conservatives turn against each other. I think Cameron is trying too hard to get Labour votes, he doesn't need too, since a good block voted for Labour because Blair is a conservative and because WH, IDS and MH were crap. But if the cons split in half again I'm not complaining. :roll:

I don't think Kennedy will go. Lib Dems are scared because there is finally someone electable leading the Cons. But there is not a big enough left following in the UK for the Lib Dems to get into power, plus the fact the older generation don't take the Lib Dems seriously. They HAVE to be tough on crime to get a shot I reckon.
Unless the Labour party screws up the next election, I don't think its going to be a good future for the Lib Dems (if Kennedy is in charge)?

We believe in limited government. But rolling back the state must never mean the weak are left behind.

We want civic society to flourish. We must help social enterprises and voluntary organisations do even more to tackle the entrenched problems that affect our communities, believing that there is such a thing as society, it’s just not the same thing as the state.

We believe in national sovereignty. But not in isolation and xenophobia.

Now is the time to fight for an open and flexible Europe, with a high growth, low unemployment future, recognising that Britain has always done best when she engages ethically and enthusiastically with the wider world.

Plus the con leader Cameron believes in free health care and has a green agenda on the works.

LOL not much they are probably identical, only Cameron hasn't been proved a power hungry liar yet. Cameron could well split the party anyway.

But I'm glad, this website has made me appreciate my country (for all its wrongs) more. I couldn't live with the American conservatism brand.
