To start the new year on a good note, we can comfort ourselves with the knowledge that the fearmongers were again proven wrong.

Top 12 Debunked Climate Scares of 2018

Reposted from The GWPF January 2018: Worst-case global warming scenarios not credible: Study PARIS (AFP) – Earth’s surface will almost certainly not warm up four or five degrees Celsius by 2100, according to a study released Wednesday (Jan 17) which, if correct, voids worst-case UN climate change predictions. A revised calculation of how greenhouse gases drive up the planet’s temperature reduces the range of possible end-of-century outcomes by more than half, researchers said in the report, published in the journal Nature.
[h=4][/h][h=4]February: ‘Sinking’ Pacific nation Tuvalu is actually getting bigger, new research reveals[/h]The Pacific nation of Tuvalu — long seen as a prime candidate to disappear as climate change forces up sea levels — is actually growing in size, new research shows.
A University of Auckland study examined changes in the geography of Tuvalu’s nine atolls and 101 reef islands between 1971 and 2014, using aerial photographs and satellite imagery.
It found eight of the atolls and almost three-quarters of the islands grew during the study period, lifting Tuvalu’s total land area by 2.9 percent, even though sea levels in the country rose at twice the global average.

And so forth . . . .

It does not matter how many threads we open up showing when alarmists are wrong, climate change is still a real thing and we do have an impact on it.

The real argument is to what degree, and what to do about it.

Our issue with threads like this are those that take pointing out when alarmists are wrong and suggesting climate change does not exist at all and humanity has no role in it. Then all we accomplish is adding to the number of total idiots that stick their collective heads in the sand saying there is no problem to discuss.

Somewhere the Koch Brothers are happy about this...

Or maybe it's not a serious problem, and money wasted on it cannot be used for better purposes.

[h=4]March: BBC forced to retract false claim about hurricanes[/h]You may recall the above report by the BBC, which described how bad last year’s Atlantic hurricane season was, before commenting at the end: “A warmer world is bringing us a greater number of hurricanes and a greater risk of a hurricane becoming the most powerful category 5.I fired off a complaint, which at first they did their best to dodge. After my refusal to accept their reply, they have now been forced to back down

Then perhaps, those who are highly paid to examine this should pay more attention to the real argument and stop with the phony made up claims. Then those of us skeptics with our heads in the sand might have something to discuss.

Nobody at all has said that climate change is not real.

Very few, and they are mostly mad, say that humanity has no effect on climate.

The degree we have an effect is debated.

That there is any real problem beyond drawing lines on graphs and panicing has never been shown to me.

[h=1]Coral Reefs Can Take The Heat, Unlike Experts Crying Wolf[/h]From The GWPF Date: 26/12/18 Peter Ridd, The Australian This unreliability of the science is now a widely accepted scandal in many other areas of study and it has a name: the replication crisis. When checks are made to replicate or confirm scientific results, it is regularly found that about half have flaws. Scientists from…

Whether the Koch Brothers or George Soros are happy is irrelevant to the point made.

Nobody says climate change isn't happening. It always has and always will. Nobody is saying that human activity has not had any impact whatsoever. That would be foolish as we know very well the effect that all manner of living creatures to earthworms to bees to beavers to elephants have on the environment overall so it only stands to reason that 7.5 billion human beings on the planet will also leave their mark, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.

But those who use flawed or fake science to enrich themselves and/or obtain power by deceiving people into different kinds of compliance or accepting some sort of world government structure or other political authority should and must be exposed and resisted by those still capable of reason, logic, and common sense.

[h=4]May: Climate change causes beaches to grow by 3,660 square kilometers[/h]Since 1984 humans have gushed forth 64% of our entire emissions from fossil fuels. (Fully 282,000 megatons of deplorable carbon “pollution”.) During this time, satellite images show that 24% of our beaches shrank, while 28% grew. Thus we can say that thanks to the carbon apocalypse there are 3,660 sq kms more global beaches now than there were thirty years ago.

Apparently that view isn't shared by all.

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/01/02/2018-saw-a-global-revolt-against-climate-change-policies/

2018 saw a global revolt against policies aimed at fighting global warming
Australia, Canada, France and the U.S. have all seen push back against global warming policies
That included weeks of riots in France against planned carbon tax increases.

As always, the facts of life are conservative.

[h=4]June: Antarctica not losing ice, NASA researcher finds[/h]NASA glaciologist Jay Zwally says his new study will show, once again, the eastern Antarctic ice sheet is gaining enough ice to offset losses in the west.

The link by NASA to the paper is broken, however, here is what the NASA link says:

According to the new analysis of satellite data, the Antarctic ice sheet showed a net gain of 112 billion tons of ice a year from 1992 to 2001. That net gain slowed to 82 billion tons of ice per year between 2003 and 2008.According to the new analysis of satellite data, the Antarctic ice sheet showed a net gain of 112 billion tons of ice a year from 1992 to 2001. This is a start. In the years ahead, I suspect there will be many other reversals dealing with climate change.

Yes.

Clearly this disproves all the science.

Takes a fool to believe I implied that. The science is sound, for how little we know about the climate sciences. The science is still mostly a "what if" game of little known variable interactions. It's the pundits and activism that lie about the science.

That’s true. This alone doesnt prove it.

All your posts on DP about climate, now *thats* definitely disproven all of it.

Oh, those pundits. Anonymous libertarians are so much more honest.

Nobody I know who posts here denies that climate change is happening. Its those trying to hijack todays very modest and almost certainly natural temperature rise to suit their own perverse political agendas thats the problem :(

Oh lordy. Next we 'll hear from alarmists who will tell us that expanding beaches will engulf us all.

Oh lordy. Next we 'll hear from alarmists who will tell us that expanding beaches will engulf us all.

As I've posted here innumerable times the climate is well within the natural variability of the last few thousand years, all the rest is just politically motivated greenwash. This never had anything to do with controlling climate and everything to do with controlling people. Why else is it that its always governments and poltical bodies like the IPCC that are the most shrill when it comes to AGW ? Control is power and power is money.

What makes me so angry is to think of the impact the trillions squandered on this would have had, had they been put to tackling the real environmental issues man has caused like oceanic pollution and acid rain etc :(
