Really? Is this what Republicans really believe these days?

Trump announces second Kim summit will take place in Vietnam

Trump: Progress in talks with Taliban means 'we will be able to reduce our troop presence'

What happened?

Oh, yeah. Trump happened.

Question: Are there any conservatives out there in the forum who are growing a little concerned with the Orange Man's plans? Any? Or is all well in TrumpLand?

Meeting with Kim is good. But trusting the Taliban....what could possibly go wrong?

You don't know much about diplomacy, do you?

Moving on...

Meeting with him is far less crazy than saying he’s a great guy like Trump said the other day. The right elected Dennis ****ing Rodman president.

You aren't s people person. Are you?

1. North Korea: This second meeting will be fruitful if there's something of substance that comes out of it. Right now there isn't a clear definition of what North Korea is actually willing to do in terms of denuclearizing, and all of the rhetoric from Jong-un has been dodging that kind of commitment. If this is another photo op that doesn't make any progress, it's a flop.

2. The Taliban: Personally, I think we needed to leave Afghanistan a long time ago. There was nothing about that invasion that lead me to think anything good was going to come out of it based on the USSR's experience. What remains to be seen is what kind of support the US will offer the current government should they find themselves in a situation where the Taliban forcefully take power. Based on Trump's rhetoric that leads me to think the US isn't going to get involved. The other part I'm curious about is how much is conceded to the Taliban because their repressive rule in the past doesn't leave much hope for progress there.
