Probably one of the top songs ever written Speaks truth in today's society more than ever.
as the next Dark Age begins.

People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

And echoed in the wells, of silence

As i figured there will be some people that just do not get it.
thanks for proving that.

I believe S&G wrote that as a hippy song where they could claim its merits in a host of ways. Those two would be wanting if they needed to rub two brain cells together.

I hated it when Simon and Garfunkel broke up. Simon's songs tended to be boring without Garfunkel's arrangements.

Meh...too abstract for me.

I prefer Buffalo Springfield's For What It's Worth

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's s time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paul was the singer and writer but Garfunkel was the inspiration behind a lot of the music.

I never especially kept up with Paul Simon. Did he ever make anything as good as Graceland?
