Not surprising. That's what makes the World go 'round. Sorta like right here in the USA with the Mass Media assault upon common sense. Demonize them bad adders. Poor is happiness. The Lord works in mysterious ways. You don't have the full picture. Hillary will give you the full picture, er. perhaps minus a few thousand emails, and things you don't need to know. The Massa gonna take care of y'all.

That's a nice piece of fiction but it is just that - fiction. You see, in order to get the best work out of a person or animal, you have to feed them adequately. The small amount of food described and the large amount of work simply won't work. These are farmers we're talking about and farmers understand that you have to feed your livestock (even if that is the abomination that is human livestock) enough for them to do the work required of them. Under-feed them and they will accomplish less and if you under-feed them enough, you will lose your investment. The amount of food described in your story and the amount of work described don't line up. Plus the whole first line is utter crap. Plowing is done by the horses or oxen, rarely by men, because even the strongest man isn't going to keep up with a ox or a horse. If it's talking about the man running the plow, then the real determining factor is the horse/ox pulling the plow. The man can make a difference, but not 3X level of difference. Slaves weren't kept in by fences, they were kept in by threat of death, their own or the people around them. They would often be chained if that wasn't effective, but to put up a fence to keep the slaves in would be a waste of time and money.

So many holes in your story... Maybe next time you should do a little research into the culture you are writing about so that you don't make these kind of simple mistakes.

Actually, it's the Left who are the blind followers these days. So many examples of Dem. politicians getting re-elected after demonstrating that they should not be in elected office due to legal problems that should have put them in jail. The left has become the homogeneous mass of the electorate, leaving their roots far behind them.
