The Rise and Fall of Middle-class Wealth

the clinton liberals coming together with the bush's conservatives to take from the middle class to enrich themselves with pushing thru nafta and gatt to stop americans jobs and stop the middle class... its when the middle class is strong is when a nation truly progresses.... and it is TRUMP like teddy roosevelt that understands this and why just like teddy roosevelt both the liberals and conservatives like big oil candidates tries to stop him...

Did I just feel a small earthquake, or was that Teddy Roosevelt turning over in his grave?

exactly.. teddy stopped monopolies and that stops progress same as trump but trump is hammered by both the liberals and conservatives rich who wants to stay rich and they will stop progress that harms their riches

I see that in my two sons. The older one is 31, makes a good living working for AT&T, and has saved a tidy sum for his age. He's the conservative. The younger one (27) is a Japanese studies major in college and barely has a cent to his name. He's a Bernie man, although he's never voted in an election. :doh I (thought) I raised them both the same. Where did I go wrong? :(

So, your highly singular judgement value as regards an individual is their Net Worth?

Doesn't surprise me in the least - and I pity your son, the Japanese major ...

You are living in a country with a low unemployment rate and one of the best levels of remuneration on earth - if you have the right skills/competencies. It's not Obama who snuffed-out all the low-skilled jobs. It was the Chinese and the American consumer who bought their products willy-nilly!

You (plural) belong to a country where there is sufficiency in Income for most of the population, even if it is badly distributed. And yet, you are not happy with the situation. You just had a PotUS that tried to correct that situation, and you voted the HofR, the year after he took office, into the hands of the opposition that stymied each and every effort he would make to better the lot of its people.

So, you're still pissed off?!? Wow.

And to correct matters finally, you are suggesting we vote for the worst possible person, who has had no political experience whatsoever, just because he's a multimillionaire with multiple bankruptcies under his belt?

Stop the world, I wanna get off ...

The Bamboo Curtain came down in 1991, and nobody noticed.

Till now?

Very curious ...

Sheldon Adelson is Jewish. Is that good enough for you?

If you're lucky.

Because you didn't report your taxes? lol

Ahlevah just proved you wrong in post 17.

Sure, but unlike you, I don't believe in fairy tales.

quoted from post 17....from allevah

But workers have to face the fact they they've become part of the problem. They've gotten away from the idea of thrift as a virtue. It's all about me, mine, and where the next deal is coming from. Live within your means, folks, whatever they are, and don't waste your time pointing your finger at someone else. It's your fault, too.

he didnt prove anything of the sort

in fact, this paragraph is what a LOT of us have been saying

live within your means....be thrifty....be responsible

i know...hard concepts for you to understand....but keep trying, and you'll get there

Conservatives and Libertarians have zero interest in problem solving. If they can't find someone else to blame for a problem, they just ignore reality and deny the problem exists.

And they cannot, because they ARE the problem. At least the Rich Plutocrats who have the power to do so since the Bush Administration finagled the Supremes to allow them to do so. Time and time again, when the question of money-in-politics came up, the clique on the Right in the Supreme Court voted down any hindrance to its use or its quantity.

It has thus become a plague upon the body-politic. Both parties indulge in the money-binging. What other way is there to buy time on the BoobTube?

Money corrupts, and absolute money corrupts absolutely. They have betrayed the underpinnings of our democracy, and we let them do it. Because the money spent was to get their cohorts-in-crime elected, and we, the sheeple took the bait - hook, line and sinker.

Will someone please explain how selling politicians on TV like they were soap-powder befits an advanced civilization? Please, I'm all eyes.

I blame the plutocrats for monetizing elections; but it is we, the sheeple, by staying away from the polls, that allowed the Replicants to get elected in 2010 (HofR) and from there stymie all Stimulus Spending that would have put our people back to work ...

The hard concept for you types to understand is that being thrifty and living within your means...is not enough for most people.

No, I'm merely pointing out that those in favor of fleecing taxpayers and getting free **** from government tend to be those with little to no skin in the game. Millennials are no different than the rest of us in that regard. My kids, coincidentally no doubt, just happen to conform with that observation.

I don't. He's living his dream. He's been to Japan four times, twice as a student. Although he's not wealthy, he served four years in the Air Force and is attending college on the GI Bill, so he doesn't owe a dime. Plus he's a good student. We're immensely proud of him, notwithstanding his misguided politics. When he graduates he wants to go back there and teach English. Good for him! :2wave:

Isn't he a casino mogul? I was thinking more along the lines of Lehman's Dick Fuld, who apparently didn't get the memo that he was running the planet.

Yes, good for him. The Asian countries are very difficult for westerners to integrate into without perseverance.

I wish him success as well.

You have no viable proof of the bile you print here.

None, zilch, nada, niente, zip, tipota - all vile sarcasm and wasted bandwidth ...
