The Reemergence of the Religious Left (1 Viewer)

So your telling me that your "church" does not approve of gay marriage, abortion, polygamist marriages, adultery and other sins?

His church is not as good as yours because he is more liberal than you? I'm not talking about the issues you mention above, but the validity of a person's beliefs, when this person goes to church, believes in God and Jesus, and tries to be Christian, but his church is left of middle, so there is no reason for anybody to attend it, right? And probably he isn't a real Christian anyway, right? He'd have to at least attend a moderate church or he's going to bake in hell, I'm sure. I can understand why you think this way toward him, because you are obviously Old Testament oriented.

I would think that somebody like you, who goes to a 'real' church, would be less judgemental and vitriolic than you are.

Speaking of old testament as well as parts of the new testament we are told to watch out for false prophets.

Good advice, but it didn't really address the post.

Surely being able to get an education is a good thing? Why would you not be able to improve your situation under a collectiveist system?

Great, I'll spend years of hard work getting an education which will allow me to carry more responsibility, work harder and longer, and live a just little better than the rest, I'll go home to my governmnet approved living facility. I'll eat governmnet approved food, with my governmnet approve utensils, and enjoy governmnet approved media.

Where do I sign up.

I'd be interested to know where in the bible it says that abortion and polygamist marriages are sins.

I agree the OT calls homosexuality and adultery a sin. But it's funny how you don't hear the religious right in this country calling for a ban on divorce.

While you are at it, dont forget about the government approved political rallies, government approved news stories, government approved drugs for government defined psychological maladies, government approved gun control, government approved prison sentences for those who dare speak out against our government approved leaders, government approved lies for government approved wars, government approved Waco and Ruby Ridge massacres, government approved gifts from citizens in the form of government approved taxes (question 1: How much ya got? question 2: Send it in.), government approved imminent domain (your house, not theirs), and dont forget about the government approved Soylent Green, which should be coming to our stores very soon. All of this government approved way of life will be promoted, of course, by the government approved lies and pablum puke we are now watching on our TV's (if you havent thrown yours in the garbage yet).

Government approved government = The death of our Republic.

We the People approved government = A gift from our founding fathers. Seems we treat great gifts like crap, and because of that, we will deserve each and every iota of the screwing we get, unless we wake up soon and realize that, with great gifts, come great responsibilities.

With the interminable screeching about the religious right, it's refreshing to see someone here even recognizes the religious left - it has a long tradition, e.g. William Sloane Coffin, the Berrigan brothers, Martin Luther King, and very many black preachers. And mixing up religion and politics, in certain ways, is just fine: e.g., people can vote according to religious precepts. Politicians have always made taylored appeals to religious groups, and that also is no problem.

 Exelent Post! I can't agree more. People can vote according to which politician represents their beliefs more and they feel would stick to their beliefs. They should also leave it out of politics and let their actions tell the story not their words. Well said.

This is one of the best points that people can make against the outcry that you hear now about "protecting the sactity of marriage". Lets face it, the sanctity of marriage was thrown out the window YEARS ago and its not uncommon to see pastors who have been divorced. Funny though how you DON'T see them trying to pass bills of this fassion. Good post!

As i said before socialism/collectivism doesnt have to be statist. See anarco-syndicalsim, libertarian socialism, left-libertarianism e.t.c

Referring people to an unpopular ideology that has never been tested is hardly proof that collectivism isnt counter-productive to the point of statism.

Reemergence of the religious left? I can't stop laughing. I didn't bother to read the initial post, but I would like to see you post some lefty thinking on abortion, gay marriages and their support of the ACLU in tearing down the Christian tradition to see just how religious the left has become. Perhaps you have had a sense of humor all along, and just were not able to express it.
