I just finished watching season 2 of the Punisher, and I must say bravo to Netflix and the makers for making an excellent second season that IMHO deserves a third season.
The brutality was all one can expect of the Punisher, brutal, violent, deadly and razor sharp in his intent as the Punisher should be.
So, has anybody else finished season 2 and how did you rate it? Super hero series have been a bit of an issue with Netflix, great first season and then not so great second season. But the Punisher was excellent in season 2. Maybe they should trust the Punisher route if they want to re-introduce those super heroes back again.
I watch Netflix because it can give what "mega movies" and television shows about super heroes often lack, grittiness and the real ravages of going to war as a super hero. Many are cookie cutter shows with big bad guys and "acceptable" levels of violence. Netflix can give us a bit of realism. Parents can determine what their kids can and cannot watch IMHO and Netflix should use that when making their own shows that did not make it on regular TV or are too realistic for normal television.
When I see someone get shot they should be able to curse and swear because they are in pain/dying. Bleeps are not something shows like the Punisher needs.
I hope it is also the road they will take with Lucifer. A show that has great potential but has been hampered by the clean police. Lucifer is a voracious sexual animal but besides a few scantily dressed women the show has not shown us that.
Netflix should make shows that regular TV will not make. Don't make soppy remakes, make original shows and make them realistic, feel like it is not just PG rated stuff. Most Netflix users can handle stuff with a bit more mature content. And I am not talking about pornographic or semi pornographic scenes but scenes where people who get shot actually bleed, where when a devil has sex with women a bit of flesh is appropriate.
Netflix should bring shows that Disney or other potential competitors will not bring, bring the pain so to speak, bring the realism into the adult entertainment it produces.
And bring back the Punisher for season 3, Frank Castle deserves a higher body count of scum.
