Great article.
The president acts like a king because successive congresses have delegated so much power to the executive that he is largely unfettered in what he can and can't do. Congress regularly passes the "No bad things shall happen" law which includes language that effectively says things like, "the president shall be empowered to insure that no bad things will happen". This is a blank check for presidential overreach and imperial presidency.
We need a paradigm shift in the relationship between the three branches which is horribly misbalanced these days. Congress, needs to start pulling back control, and if the won't, then the courts need to force them to by overturning the laws that excessively handed power over.
