What do they all have in common?

Freedom

Lincoln fought the south denying their freedom to succeed from the Union.

Putin is fighting Ukraine in efforts to deny their freedom to remain free

Unlike the South, Ukraine is on a more level playing field.

Anyone else see the parallels?

*secede*

A mind is a terrible thing…………..

The spelling error isn’t even the dumbest part.

Your ignorance is stunning.

The South didn’t “succeed”. The eleven states involved illegally attempted to secede.

No, the South, nearly 100% white folk in this case, primarily fought for the freedom to keep human slaves. Couldn't be more different. What an absurd thread as usual.

The short answer is, no, there is nothing remotely analogous between these two situations.

I feel dumber for having read this thread and bothered to respond.
Feels like I need a long hot bath just from having opened the thread.

This is one of the very saddest OPs I have in my nearly two decades here at DP.

It's just hardcore equivocation fallacy and bad analogies.

Sad.

The South wanted to secede from the Union on the basis that they believe that God gave them Is the right to own another person.

Why does Ukraine not want to be part of Russia? Is Putin trying to prevent them from owning slaves?

Just think if the South was on as a near equal ground as Ukraine,

US Grant would have surrendered at Fort Donelson.
