Test your knowledge of prominent people and major events in the news, by taking our short 13-question quiz. Then see how you did in comparison with 1,041 randomly sampled adults asked the same questions in a national survey conducted online Jan. 18-24 by the Pew Research Center. The new survey includes a mixture of multiple-choice questions using photographs, maps and symbols.

When you finish, you will be able to compare your News IQ with the average American, as well as with the scores of college graduates and those who didn’t attend college; with men and women; and with people your age as well as other ages.

I missed the second question.
12 of 13 correct.

I'm happy to say I got 13 out of 13 although I did hesitate on the currency question for a minute.

It was a little left wing slanted though.

I find Twitter also useful for debating politics, especially with some more well known individuals.

I confused the pound for the Euro.

I got 13 out of 13, too....

You answered 13 of 13 questions correctly along with 8% of responders.

Your score is better than 92% of responders.

Ma and Pa would be so proud. :bright:

13 for 13.

Not surprised how few people can identify Elizabeth Warren. That makes sense. I am surprised how few people knew that was Syria on the map.

I'm surprised more people knew the symbol for Judaism than knew John Kerry, but then considering the 2004 election, perhaps it's not so surprising after all.

The other choices were ridiculous. Turkey is going to be north into Europe, Saudi Arabia is easily identifiable, and Egypt is in Africa.

Congratulations top 8% er. The Syria question almost stumped me until I recognized Turkey and knew that Syria was below it and then the map suddenly made sense. The size relationship of the countries seemed a bit skewed.

I'm surprised how few people can recognize the Chinese flag.

Syria was easy - it's beside Iraq so that Iran can funnel weapons through to Assad.

13 for 13. Rather easy.

The twitter one really has no relevance. the rest of those are relevant. People ought to know what the SOTH looks like, same with the AG, the SOS and even the high priestess of socialism from Mass!

13 out of 13. A pretty easy test, imho.
