The Mueller investigation is closing in on Trump

Now back to the topic, yes it is a matter of popularity. The GOP congressmen and especially senators are fearful of his popularity among the Republican base; they're afraid of getting primaried out from the pro-Trump right. Even when presented with evidence they'll be reluctant to impeach for fear of losing their seats. Therefore Trump's relative popularity in those circles will protect him, innocent or not.

The Watergate investigation took 2 years. We're not there yet. A lot of grand conspiracy investigations take just as long and follow a similar arc. The bag men and errand boys all fold one by one and tell what they know about the boss. I think Mueller will present a fair amount of evidence against Trump when he's done. As far as obstruction of justice goes, we've seen plenty already.

The Watergate hearings were public and broadcast on TV everyday. The Mueller investigation is done in private.

Really what has he leaked? Mueller is not SDNY which leaks like a sieve.

If Mueller leaked we would know what is in Flynn's discharge to sentencing documents. But we don't do we? We would know what is in Manafort's discharge to sentencing docs. But we don't do we? We would not have had to wait for Corsi to hand out copies of his Draft Indictment to anybody and everybody while desperately trying to use the material to develop a rational for his performance for a charge not as yet even made now would we?

In contrast Trump and his cronies blather endlessly about things they would do better to just shut up about in the face of the hard rock of Mueller's prosecutorial expertise. The Mueller submarine rises, fires and submerges again which has driven Trump to such distraction that he daily trips over his own dingdong.

Oh for pete sakes Trey Gowdy and others were pissed off with the leaks coming out of Mueller's team in 2017. And they continued.

The evidence that Mueller's team isn't interested in looking for Russian Collusion but rather have made this investigation political has been mounting. For the last two trips of President Trumps overseas to deal with other political leaders, each time there has been a leak from Mueller's team on his investigation raising ****. Coincidence? No.

Trump's obstruction is front and center though: on TV, on twitter, in press conferences. Every time he fires an official connected to the investigation, replaces them with someone put in place to protect himself, tampers with witnesses, suggests pardons and admits it in a TV interview, and possibly even when he decries the investigation itself, he's building an obstruction case against himself. We may not know exactly how much of it Mueller will use but we see it all unfolding live and in real time.

HRC failed to comply with numerous FOIA requests during her tenure as SoS.

HRC sent and received classified information via her private server which had less security protocols than a private account such as gmail.

HRC failed to comply with the Federal Records Act and the Presidential Records Act for the 4 years she was SoS.

What crime did Hillary commit that justified her emails being searched?

Also, Trump has been violating the records act by destroying documents which staff had to tape back together.

Trump has been using a private cell phone

Trump's daughter has been using a private email address to do public work

Court filings are not leaks. Try again?

We have no idea who is talking to the press about Grand Jury testimony and witness interviews. In fact it has often been offered that its the subject's and target's legal teams leaking the information. In fact, being interviewed by Mueller can and often does suggest that a person is not working his way up from witness to subject to target. Hence it behoves them to leak that they have been interviewed.

On the other hand how often has Stone himself commented in the media "I believe I will be indicted" as a means to pump his self inflated ego.

He may resign if that keeps his kids out of jail. I don't think he is that happy about this job and he will be even more distressed next year.

I don't know if even Congress will get that report. It goes to Whitiger, who has the say on who gets to see the report. The purpose of the Cohen guilty plea was not to get Cohen more time, but as information to Congress and the public in case Whitiger tries to bury the report.
