The Most Peaceful Places in North America

Betway published a list of the most peaceful places in North America. For some reason Mexico was left off the list as they only included Canada and the US.

The most peaceful place is Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec. Woodstock, NY is the most peaceful US location.

Living in a big city and being part of the hustle and bustle is the dream for some people, and we get it, we’ve all seen some of our favourite TV and film characters live their lives in cities like Los Angeles or New York and wished this upon ourselves.

However, that’s not for everyone. Some prefer quieter, more quaint environments and even those living in the livelier locations want a bit of zen every now and then.

Peace is wonderful.

The USA should have a Department of Peace.

The little island where we live is very peaceful. I would venture to say that we can beat all of the sites named except for one item - no spa. One island resident does own a spa on the mainland and there are two ladies who do home visits for massage therapy. Kinda nice to live in a place where we don't bother to lock the doors when we leave the house and always leave the keys in the car at the ferry parking lot. A couple years ago, some high school age kids did pull a prank with our cars - they moved them to different spaces in the parking lot.

Gawd, sounds like you're our neighbour! We drop the truck keys into the cup holder when we park it and we don't know where our house keys are. We always drive on the ferry though- if we go to town we're probably coming back loaded with groceries.
The birds wake us in the morning in spring and summer. I can hear our neighbour use his chainsaw but I can't hear him start his truck.

The two BC towns, Tofino #3 and Ucluelet #6 are neighbours, opposite ends of Long Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Ucluelet is kind of artsy while Tofino is about surf culture. Generally. There's crossover, of course.

You're a lucky guy. I've been to Tofino and Ucluelet and they are spectacular. The only other place on the list I've been to is Jasper.

Those are great places. Hell, just the drive across the island from Parksville is worth the trip. Walking in Cathedral Grove is humbling...

I suppose this article is somebody’s idea of peaceful places.

Not sure the proximity of spas is a very good measure. Woodstock, NY is a tourist trap.

While I was in Tofino we took a Beaver flight whale watching. Very cool!

The hotel I stayed at made it a point to have no TVs or phones in the rooms. "Go outside!" seemed to be the message.

I looked at the guest book and was surprised how many people complained about the lack of TVs.

I'll bet! It's a pretty spectacular coastline.
We keep intending to go there during storm season but it's still on the bucket list.

We stayed once at a little place called 'The Inn At Tuff City', 'Tuff' being local shorthand for Tofino. Place was like a museum full of '50's memorabilia.

Some people.
Some folks go to exotic places in Asia or Africa and stay at the Best Western or Ramada, confident the rooms and restaurant will be precisely the same as at home.

We have a mainland car and two island vehicles, so no driving onto the ferry. Due to the island town not requiring state registration, both cars still display their Florida plates. I have seen plates from several other states and at least 3 countries. The only serious problem we have happens to cars parking along the road by the golf course - golf balls can take out car windows. With no inspection, some just tape plastic over the broken window.
